On Aug 26, we left my grandmother’s ring for repair and paid a $175 deposit for a custom piece, promised by Fri 9/5 (Wednesday was later mentioned as a soft deadline after parts arrived on Tue 9/2).
Thu 9/4: I called; was told both jobs were “on the bench” and due next day.
Fri 9/5 @ 2:20pm: Heather called saying the jeweler “forgot the accents,” was too angry to keep working, and refused to continue — with more than three hours left in the day. She offered the unfinished piece for the weekend. I declined and said I’d pick everything up Monday. I also asked about a discount for the missed promise date, which she flatly refused, saying “I WON’T do that.” At the very least, she could have said “I’ll see what I can do” and asked someone higher up — instead, she told me she wouldn’t do anything. While I don’t think she should’ve been in the hot seat for the jeweler’s mistakes, she had every opportunity to provide better customer service and chose not to.
Mon 9/8 @ 2pm: No courtesy call. We arrived to find the jeweler hadn’t even come in, and the ring was completely disassembled (shank cut, pearls removed). Heather claimed the jeweler worked “the last hour then left” and that she had called me at 4pm. When I showed my call log proving the call was at 2:20pm, she went silent.
What stood out most was how Heather handled the situation. She was quick to lie when it covered herself (claiming calls that never happened), but she never tried to shield the jeweler from his own mistakes. On Monday, she even admitted she had “no authority” to offer a discount — directly contradicting her flat refusal on Friday.
In the end, my deposit was shifted to my grandmother’s repair and the shop “made it right” by covering only $4.98 in tax. After broken promises, false claims, and an abandoned ring, that was insulting. While I was extremely disappointed in how my custom ring was handled I added a star because Trey, the owner reach out to me upon seeing my review and made it clear that he would use this as a teachable moment for his employees. I greatly appreciate the commitment to...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin to completely express my gratitude & amazement with Jessups New Smyrna & their staff. All of the positive, kind employees, stellar customer service, quality items & experiences I have had with them & witnessed occurred every time I visited. This place is truly an amazing store/pawn shop that treats every customer fairly & with respect. They have always had my best interests at heart & have gone out of their way to make sure I was taken care of, even providing services above what they have to. Just because they are a business doesn’t mean they are out to take your money or put you into a situation you cannot come out of. They listen & truly want to help you. Each & every employee is the definition of excellence & superior customer service. They not only offer pawn services but also gorgeous, quality jewelry as well as many other items that are all fairly priced. They even offer layaway if you’re interested. Whenever you walk through their doors you are met with a welcoming smile & greeting that makes you feel comfortable like you’re a part of their family or a friend.
If you’re looking for a pawn shop, jewelry store, or a place that sells musical instruments & other related items, tools both big & small, fishing equipment, electronics &/or many other things I highly recommend Jessups in New Smyrna Beach.
They will treat you with respect, provide you with knowledge & most importantly treat you fairly. Their jewelry is not overly marked up or extremely overpriced like many other pawn &/or jewelry stores & neither is any of their other items.
I know this is long but I really wanted to get across how special this place is so everyone can experience how wonderful it is & hopefully choose...
Read moreVERY, very dishonest people here. I am not surprised to see other reviews describing the same practice. We were in a desperate situation and had to sell some jewelry. They told me that the diamond in my ring wasn't a very good quality stone and that it was an older style cut so there wouldn't be much they could do with it... BUT they would "help" me out and give me a decent price.
Well, they are extremely good liars because I am usually pretty good at telling when someone is not being truthful and I didn't pick it up. About a month later, we had taken care of our financial issue, so my husband went back into the shop to buy the ring back. When he saw the price he was very surprised to see it extremely, substantially higher than they told me it was worth. On top of that, they told him that the stone was a "very nice cut" and a "high color quality"..... More than a little confused, he told them that I just sold it to them a little while ago and they told us it wasn't worth much so we were hoping to buy it back. They said that this wasn't the same ring. But, it was my wedding ring that my husband bought for me so there is no question it was the same ring.
Bottom line: These people are CROOKS. Avoid them...
