Big fan of the service at this store. The employees are kind and thorough, manager present or not. They'll show you the fish they picked before bagging or make a strong effort to catch exactly what you want. I had a friendly convo with an employee once right after opening. Appreciate that kindness and I know that can't be replicated every single day for every person but it's still worth noting.
Be aware that this location doesn't have a livestock guarantee. They don't hide this so as long as they're upfront, I'm willing to give it a go. Some of my critters have passed but most have lived. Pricing is great for what I purchased so it's hard to avoid the temptation. They have some relatively uncommon fish too.
Another plus for planted aquarium people: they offer co2 refills at the time of my visit. Pricing is better than my closest welding place and you avoid that rigamarole of dropping off your tank outside and wait for it across the street, etc (Anyone that has refilled co2 at a welding supply or comparable place will understand).
Edit: Whenever I swing by to pick up scaping supplies, I'm always offered a tray to hold my rocks and wood. I noticed newer varieties of hardscape as well as ADA tissue cultures. I have yet to see that at any other...
Read moreThe fish here are extremely healthy and amazing, they have rare fish as well! The problem i ran into was not with the fish they sell it was with the misleading information from the employees. I went in there twice and both times i went in and explained what fish i had in my tank and what i wanted to add they encouraged me to either get 1 fish in a large size or 3 of them in a small size. I went against my better judgment and took there advice and purchased the bigger one, the fish they sold me shredded 2 of my fish in the tank (they are compatible tank mates) beyond recovery so i had to get rid of the one they sold. When bringing it back i simply asked if they can give me a deal on another fish being that I’m not expecting a cash refund. They offered me a $2 discount on a $50 fish after the one i bought from them for $45 destroyed my tank! It gets better because now all the rest of the fish in my tank are dying because of the open wounds on the damaged fish which sadly didn’t make it. My point is if you are going to shop for fish here my recommendation would be to go in there knowing exactly what u need as far as size and type of fish. I personally will never step foot in this...
Read moreGood evening everyone. I have a hell of a story to tell about this location. I have bought african cichlids from this location in the past more than a few times. At that time, the workers seemed to be very compassionate. Yesterday I went to the store with four cichlids hoping to get a minimal store credit. I was told that they do not give credit for fish. I said can you please make an exception and that I would never do it again. The guy even came to my car to look at the fish. Then said nah. They couldn't give me like $5.00 for a fish that can be sold for 100%. I came from Canarsie all the way to Coney Island and got this kind of treatment. I couldn't beg them to make an exception that one time although I said I wouldn't attempt to trade again. Maybe I should have called first, but I really didn't expect to be treated that way, especially after buying fish there quite a few times, even as recent as last week. I just left the store with a bad taste in my mouth. I actually got a $20.00 credit for three, not four of the cichlids at another aquarium with no problem. I gladly purchased two beautiful male peacock cichlids from them. I would NEVER set foot in that...
