We stayed one night and were greeted by a very responsive and friendly staff and views to die for!. Floating docks are in very good shape and once inside the inlet you are out of the current and it is very easy to maneuver. There is adequate space to navigate and the slips are wide enough. There appears to be good security and this location and it is very convenient to public transportation for visiting or getting around Brooklyn or Manhattan.
However, for the price they charge here I was somewhat disappointed. We did not see or feel any evidence of a wave attenuation wall. Being NY harbor with no less than 20 commercial ferries throwing wakes as well as the commercial barge traffic and operating from 06:00 to 23:00 I feel this is a critical fail. We needed to double up all dock and spring lines and hang bumpers on both sides of the boat. The are no bumpers installed on the dock themself only a small rub rail and corner guards no wheels. Additionally I found the website to be misleading. This marina is adjacent to a public park complex for the NYC parks. Some of the amenities they refer to are park amenities and not within the “ONE15” compound. That being said NYC has constructed a wonderful park facility you are welcome to use and many very good restaurants are within walking distance. We did not find any grocery or chandlery for provisioning or repair.
There is no locker room for the long hot shower after a long passage. There are public restrooms in the park a short walk away or you can go to the administrative offices of ONE15 where they have one shower for the office and dock staff inside a very small bathroom( closes at 7pm )
We are leaving today chiefly because I’m afraid of snapping a dock line or pulling a cleat out of the deck. When they actually get a “wave attenuation wall” as advertised I’ll be back and just accept that I need to shower...
Read moreGorgeous views of Manhattan and awesome Brooklyn Heights access! We spent four days here over the Fourth of July weekend in 2017 because the marina required 4-day minimum commitment for the holiday. The calm water system and anchoring is a joke! Our boat was thrown around at the dock and it was mostly unbearable to enjoy dockside. The docks were un-walkable due to the wake coming in from the heavy traffic on the East River and into the harbor. Thankfully there were no sailboats on either side of us otherwise we would have sparred our masts because of the rockin’ n’ rollin at the docks. There were NO facilities. Supposedly the main office was under construction. Keypad entrance to the docks from the public park is all you get. Insanely busy location- newly renovated beautiful park draws big crowds. Public grilling stations with tables are in front of the marina – there is no privacy. Will not stay more than one day. Breathtaking views and easy access from the East River or the New York Harbor. Day trips around the harbor and up the Hudson, to Coney Island and under the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to Raritan Bay and Sandy Hook. No comforts that one would expect after a journey. Had to go across to Liberty Marina for all essentials- fuel, propane,...
Read moreNegative Experience Due to Inappropriate Treatment and Procedure During my last visit to this marina, I arrived dehydrated and was grateful to receive water and assistance from several kind younger employees. Unfortunately, my overall experience took a very negative turn when an older staff member wrongly assumed I did not belong there. He escorted me to the office and, without listening to my explanations or properly verifying the situation, prevented me from leaving until I could correctly spell the name of my boat or until someone came to get me.
Being detained in a room with 2 men and one woman made me feel unsafe and vulnerable. Detaining a person against their will is unacceptable under any circumstance. Staff should be trained to handle situations with good judgment, respect, and common sense. Especially when it involves the health and well-being of a visitor.
While the marina has a convenient location, the lack of training in basic human rights and customer service means I cannot...
