North River Sailing — Local services in New York

I'm a native New Yorker, and I love being out on the water around the city. Setting sail on the Tantara with Capt. Sam was an awesome experience and I can't wait to do it again!

North River Sailing operates out of Brooklyn Bridge Marina, so it's really easy to get to from anywhere in Brooklyn or downtown Manhattan. The Tantara is a stunning 44ft racing sailboat (it could cross the Atlantic!), and it's docked out by the crazy luxury yachts in the marina, so you feel like a real baller when you're heading out to get on the boat.

Capt. Sam is very knowledgeable and professional; honestly, the dude is just super chill and does a great job explaining everything safety and sailing related. He took us down to the Statue of Liberty and then back up towards lower Manhattan, and we got to see some breathtaking views of the city around sunset. I cannot recommend North River Sailing enough! Captain Sam was so kind and attentive. He set us up right at the bow of the boat and it felt like a private charter. We were lucky enough to have gorgeous weather and enough wind to do some serious sailing. It was SO much fun. I already am planning my next day on the water with them. We are from Brooklyn and we felt like we were on vacation. It’s the perfect activity if you’re looking for something new to do or if you’re entertaining people from out of town. It was wonderful to get out into New York Harbor with Captain Sam! It was awesome to spend the afternoon sailing with the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline (it looks so different, and so beautiful, from the Harbor!) in the background.
