On August 27, 2025, Jonquel "JJ" Jones, MVP #35 NEW YORK LIBERTY was a guest Reader at the Crown Heights Library. She read 2 books about Caribbean Heritage and Visiting Grandma in the Bahamas. Upon her entry, JJ was serenaded by Patrick. The Steelpan Man.
Over 275 Brooklyn Public Library patrons and Liberty fans were enthralled and mesmerized during Jonquel reading and interactive exchanges with the audience. JJ signed every autograph, took every selfie that was asked of her. With Renowned Artist, Merrill Matthews, Jonquel and a host of children, made Carnival themed masks. Jonquel and guests fasted on Saltfish buljol, fried bake and phulorie, Trinidad and Tobago cuisine. Many community leaders, politicians and other dignitaries: Brian Cunningham and Regional Director, Brooklyn Public Library were on hand to meet and greet the diverse ages and members of the community who came out for a fun Summer evening.

This is where the homeless people from the shelter down the block go to charge their phones. At 2pm, half the library closes for the free after-school programs the library provides, and the other half becomes a screaming mass of children. It does get interesting when the homeless people with psychosis start to scream curses at the loud children though.
