Bryant Park Carousel is well known to many New Yorkers and out-of-towners. It is a fun place for parents to have their kids enjoy the rides. However, instead of that, one carousel employee makes it an aggravating and unpleasant experience. We purchased 2 tickets (for 2 rides) at the booth, for our son, and upon entry to the carousel, I handed both tickets to the "gate-keeper" lady. Apparently, that was a mistake (as we found out later). Our little one had his single ride, and even though there were less than 5 people in line waiting for the next ride, he had to get off so the others can ride the carousel (which is perfectly fine). Keep in mind, that I handed her 2 tickets (for 2 rides) when he went the first time. As in many other places, you would just stay on the carousel or any other exhibit for the 2nd time around. So, he gets off after his first ride and we go to the back of the line. Now, the gate attendant demands a ticket for the ride. Now we get into a conversation that I handed both tickets at the same time during the first ride. She is stating that she was not even there a few minutes ago (which is absolutely not true) - we are talking about a 3-4 minute time span. She gets pretty nasty and sends us back to the ticket booth. I go there and the nice young lady at the booth listens to my frustration and goes outside to consult with the gate attendant. Gate attendant steps into the booth and unleashes all her ghetto attitude in a loud tone about the events that took place and did not take place. We get into an argument as frustrations boil. Granted, the gentleman behind me logically said - "let it go, it's not worth all this aggravation". And he was right. Once the aggressor attendant left, the young lady returned to the booth and gave me a replacement token for the ride. We refused to go back to deal with the witch. The young lady suggested coming back at the specific time when she would be attending the gates. We did not get back later that day since we were in a different part of the city and then had to go home. The ticket costs only $3, which is not a big deal at all. But the attitude toward the customers by the gate attendant was absolutely despicable. If such behavior would be displayed toward customers in any other industry, such an employee would be fired on the spot. But I do want to say thank you to the young lady for being understanding during the...
Read moreI’ve taken my kids to this place for years but today was the last time. The ride operator, a miserable person with glasses, tanned skin and what seemed to be a Dutch accent should be nowhere near a kids or a ride. She’s as miserable as can be, a disabled kid needed to get on the ride and she constantly rolled her eyes in frustration and any question parents asked. I made the mistake of telling my son to go ahead when I couldn’t see a kid in front of me as the parent was in front of me, so she starts yelling like a nutcase. Maybe she had a bad day but she needs to be more polite or find another job. Maybe they should go back to the girl that was there before, she was at...
Read moreI like to highly recommend the young gentleman Juan who was managing the carousel this past Saturday evening February 1st. He attended to my grandson getting on for a ride and myself and we were the only and last customers before he closed at 6:00 pm. He was very courteous and most caring talking and waving to my 3 year old grandson, helping him get on and off the ride and inviting him to come back the next morning when the carousel opens again .
Go Juan! wonderful interaction with...
