We got compensation for the food last night but we had returned our entrees and I think the management should know the reason why they lost their profit.
We went there last night for our reservation at 8:30 PM for party of 12 people . And they took like 30 minutes to find table for us. The table had set in the deepest corner of the restaurant with SMALL tables same feeling like you go out for the cheap meal at local restaurant. The table still dirty and most of the chairs still has a piece of food on it. We have to clean it by ourselves. The plates on the table also dirty, we have to request them to change 8 plates which has grease and some mystery green substance on it. We will report this to health department to investigate their cleaning process. And the guy who served water to us use the bottle neck to move the glass on the table and he spilled 15% of our $9 sparkling water on the table without his apologize. One of us used his serviette to clean the water himself because the water started floating around and the busboy never come back. He still take care of the remaining table in the same room but not us. We had never had our second glass of water from him or this is policy of the restaurant to serve only one glass of water? and my diet coke has never existed. We stay thirsty all night until we walked to the get the water from your station at 11 PM. For the wine, we ordered 2 bottles of wine at the beginning for start they bring 2 bottles of wine but open only 1 of them and when they serve wine they POKE on our shoulders and asked 'Do you want?' Are we misunderstanding something? We think we have a dinner at the fancy restaurant, didn't we? Next time if you decide to come to dine here bring your own wine opener, so you don't have to try to get their attention for opening the wine. And they pour wine for us only the first bottle. It's buffet style here, you have to get yourself wine and water. They are not their to help you even they get $436.88 for the tips and the waiter get extra hand tip $200 in cash!!!!!
Once the waiter come to take our order they take the appetizer at that time is 9:15 PM, approximate 30 minutes after we got the table.
And the appetizer coming at 10:00 PM!!! We do understand that the seafood might serve cold but the calamari, bourbon bacon, burgers, and etc. shouldn't!!!
And again our entrees come at 11:05 PM, which is all cold as your service. We came here at 8:15 PM to have food at 11 PM. Sounds wonderful right.
When the guy came to serve our entrees, he just shouted (Yes, that's the right word shouted) the name of food at the middle of the table. LOBSTER!!! STRIP!!! LAMB!!! And he just slam the poor plate in the middle of the table. I would like to tell him that the plate is not his bedroom door. It can break. Oh such poor plate. By the way, you should train your server to told the customer about the temperature of each dish because you sold steak and normally people order in different styles of how it cooked. We DID NOT order steak for share. We ordered individual entrees. Such as my one, I ordered the porterhouse and I specifically asked for black and blue which is not particularly look like what I ordered. And the guy who served this just shouted RAW and placed it to the girl who sit next to me. I'm surely that's not for her because she ordered the filet mignon with raw temperature but the filet mignon also doesn't exist here. They still serve the random food to all of us and everything else is cold like it finished cooking an hour ago. Oh I forgot, your restaurant might have policies that serve everything in cold. There's unnecessary to mention about how it cooked. My apologies.
By the way, most of us not in the mood to eat anymore and we just to tried to hear sorry but no sorry from your team such as 'I'm not your waitress' or 'I'm not the one who served you' or 'I'm sorry I understand you but we busy tonight everything is back up.' It's not sound like my responsibility about how busy you're. I have more details to share but that'll be over...
Read moreWe ate at STK for our wedding anniversary dinner. We just moved to New York this week and were excited to try such a popular place, given all of the reviews. We made reservations and were seated immediately. However, it took over 15 minutes for our server to come to us. He gave a quick apology but then picked up an intense attitude. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees all at once and were served promptly. One drink came out with dried-up, crusty lettuce stuck to the side of the glass. As I pulled the dried food off, the server stated it was just an old garnish from the bar. However, it was still nasty and definitely old. I stated that I would prefer a clean glass. Then, I watched my server just dump the old drink into a new glass. No big deal in and of itself, but it would’ve been easy to get a fresh drink altogether since the glass was contaminated with someone else’s old food, especially since we were watching. The new drink came out with something else dried up on the glass, but I forwent saying anything else to not complain too much.
Our 34oz porterhouse, ordered medium-rare, was served sliced up, one side showing a definite medium-well cook, and the other showing a certain grey color that can only be attributed to being overcooked to well-done. Our server was too busy chatting with coworkers to come back to check on us, so we had to ask another server to call on him. When we showed him the half of the steak that was overcooked well-done, which is so ridiculous for a literal steakhouse, he greeted us with skepticism and sarcasm. He said that what he saw when it came out of the kitchen was pink. Sure, half of the steak was pink. It was also overcooked but it was pink. This was funny, because the half steak on my plate that I was showing him was solid grey in color and the texture of a tire. It was inedible. Not to mention lacking in flavor. Did he think I brought my own overcooked steak in with me and replaced the one he brought to us? Pitiful. I’ve had better steaks at a deer camp. He took the half of the steak away with an eye roll and stated incredibly sarcastically that they may or may not be able to do anything about it. We did not ask for a refund or a new steak; we just wanted to let them know that half of the $130 steak was inedible. He asked my husband if he wanted to box it up, and my husband said empathetically that we could not eat it, but after having spent so much money on it, we would take it home to feed our pets with. It was about $70 worth of steak leftover. We were not going to throw it out. The waiter left without a word, and about 5 minutes later came back and caustically said, “For your dogs,” in the rudest, most insulting manner he could come up with, with one of his classic eye rolls to top it off. He ruined our dinner, and his attitude and harsh treatment insulted my husband and me. I felt on tears as we were leaving after being treated so poorly.
The positives: the manager we spoke to was very kind. She was apologetic about the insulting behavior shown to us, but did not really help with anything aside from that. She gave us a customer service number to complain to. They did comp two glasses of wine, which was kind but it definitely felt like the minimum. The Brussels sprouts and the Caesar salad were the best part of the meal, which is sad to be said about such a highly rated steakhouse. The wine was good as well.
You think a steakhouse would know how to cook a steak, and you think a server would know how to treat a customer. Really sad experience to celebrate our marriage. Cannot recommend this place to anyone
Update to add: Never received the phone call the manager promised in the reply. Just...
Read moreSTK is A-OK! In the last year, I have heard and seen so much about STK from friends and social media. It was only a matter of time before I wanted to see what the hype was about, so I did just that. I stopped by to celebrate my birthday in February. Upon arriving, I was seated within a few minutes and greeted by my server, Cam. The restaurant has a nice vibe with beautiful, modern decor. I'm talking dim lights, abstract lines, colored lighting, large flower displays, comfy seating, and great music. To start my celebration, I opted for a cucumber stiletto drink. It was delicious and so refreshing; Perfect for anyone who is not an avid drinker but likes a light cocktail. Shortly after, the staff brought a board with fresh baked bread topped with blue cheese butter and a side of pesto sauce. The bread and butter were so good but pesto sauce was terrible. It tasted like grass - I’d avoid it. For my meal, I had the steakhouse skirt (well done) with traditional mac and cheese and a side of Yukon gold mashed potatoes. The steak included 1 sauce. I had the blue butter and for an additional $2, I requested the STK sauce. The steak was good, it was seasoned nicely and cooked to my liking with great texture. When considering the sauces, the blue butter was a little salty but it paired nicely with my steak. The STK sauce was alright, it was really just another A1 or BBQ type of sauce. Next up, the mac and cheese was good. Not only was the pasta cooked well, but the cheese was creamy and mildly flavored. I really liked that it had a bit of crust on the top, so when you scooped into it, the steam just poured out. Now, let's talk about the mashed potatoes because they needed work. The texture was that of grits and it tasted like instant mashed potatoes. I was very surprised that they even served that on such an upscale menu. I did not bother to report it to my server simply because I didn't think about it. I was really just enjoying my time and I ended up taking it home. Finally for dessert, I had the warm apple pie. The crust was crispy and the filling featured soft apples with a sauce-like texture, while the crumble tasted like a blend of cinnamon and brown sugar. In addition, the pie was topped with maple crème fraiche, which was a great compliment. Overall, it was a good meal however, when I think of the price point and the hype, I was not amazed nor did I have anything that I loved, or felt like I've got to come back to STK just to have it. I also don't think the dessert was worth $16. Some of the items could be elevated a bit more but overall, it was a good meal. In terms of pricing, STK is not for the faint hearted lol. Expect to spend some coins! I dined alone and my bill was about $170. I will say however, the service was great and the experience is worth it for a special occasion. In particular, my server Cam, treated me very well. In celebration of my birthday, he offered me a delicious shot on the house. In addition, he brought my dessert out with a beautiful sparkler and wished me happy birthday. It made my day all the more special and I really appreciate his effort. Other staff were just as kind, attentive, and professional. All-in-all, I would recommend STK to others but I don't think I would return to dine alone. It would be on my list of places to visit for a special occasion with a group or a date. It also seems to be a nice spot to connect for happy hour. On your way out, be sure to take some photos by the large sign or use the photo booth. Big thank you to Cam and the staff for providing such a great dining experience on...
