Do NOT shop at this Cohen's - just don't do it. The way they do business is not just bad, its UNETHICAL. I went to this store given its location to obtain new contact lenses and glasses. I was initially refused copies of my prescriptions so I could order my contacts online and forced to order them in the store (ethical issue # 1 - you are entitled to your prescription upon request). The salesperson told me I had to order through her but that she would "match" the online price at 1-800-Contacts (which I use given that it is cheaper). So I ordered in the store... and then went home to look online and found out she still charged me an inflated price (did not give me the actual price based on the website - ethical issue 2 - being dishonest regarding pricing). Also, it took me 2 MONTHS at 3 attempts to get the glasses I ordered. I ordered Versace frames and premium lenses, making sure to double check that the frames I received would be new. When I first went to pick up my glasses, the frames were old (scratched, had wear marks on the sides) and there was white glue on the lenses. I requested that they be fixed. When I went back to pick them up, they gave me the glasses and one of the frames was cracked in half, and the frames were still second-hand (at over $600 for new lenses and frames, I expect the frames to actually be new and the lenses intact, so this was obviously unacceptable). I took me 2 months and multiple phone calls with different managers to get a pair of allegedly "new" frames and new (uncracked) lenses. The managers (with the exception of one) are rude and unhelpful, and I was refused a refund several times despite being given broken/old glasses TWICE (at that point, I no longer wanted glasses from this awful and dishonest establishment). This is the biggest ethical violation of all - selling "new frames" and then giving the consumer old/second-hand ones. When I complained about this they told me this is their policy - apparently they give everyone "old" frames without telling them! Since the store would not cancel my order, I finally had to take the glasses after the third try, but I am not optimistic based on the quality that they will last long (and quality problems based on other reviews here). I will never shop in this store again and am planning to report them to the better business bureau for their unethical business practices and dishonesty in their sales. Bottom line?...
Read moreI got my glasses within a week but the woman that helped me should not be working with the public. She was rude-acted as if I was troubling her. when I went to pick the glasses up she didn't even try to fit them on my face to make sure they were ok. Pardon me if I am bothering you and asking you to do your job. poor customer service-the dark haired woman that helped me should be in the back and not working with customers....
I am updating my original review as the manager Steve is awesome. He called me to apologize for the original bad experience I had with another staff member. He asked me to come back in- personally took the time to fit all of my glasses making sure I was happy with them-cleaned and adjusted etc. He went out of his way to not only apologize but make sure I was completely happy with my purchase and that customer satisfaction was his priority. Thank you Steve!
I am updating with another review. This time my husband was the one getting glasses. He came home today to tell me he dealt with a very rude dark haired woman at the counter-seems it may be the same one I dealt with almost a year ago. when he went in with his prescription and to pick out glasses a week ago the staff was very friendly and helpful - however today he went to pick them up and this particular employee had the same bad attitude with him-he said she handed him the glasses-he asked if he should put them on and if she could check to make sure the fit was good-she pointed to the mirror and said "you should be able to tell" she didn't even check them on him to make sure the fit was good or the arms were tight etc-which is routine anywhere else I have ever gone for glasses. Then she gave him the glasses in a flimsy soft case-he asked if she had a better case so they would not break -she looked annoyed and said "that's all we have" Its a shame that the store does have a good selection and the rest of the staff is friendly and courteous however one employee can ruin the experience when they have zero customer...
Read moreIâm so disgusted with this place. Received an eye exam, and ordered a new pair of progressive lenses in March. The frame on the delivered pair was crooked, and while walking, one eye would be seeing through the long distance part (top) while the other eye was seeing a bit through the lower close-vision part. My mistake was ordering a pair with a smaller lens in height than Iâve worn for years thinking theyâd be lighter and not slip down my nose so much while walking. My bad. They finally got a replacement frame, but It still didnât work.
So, since it was I who made the ineffectual choice of choosing the smaller lens, I purchased a second pair, this time with the same size lens that Iâve worn for decades, and It was agreed that they would convert the first purchased pair to just reading glasses for my computer and close up work. What a disaster that turned out to be.
After over two months of back-and-forth visits, not only was the newer pair out of focus with both eyes open, but so was the converted pair for reading; I can actually see better with my years old current pair. On top of that, the newest pair came with the wrong frame; all my glasses have always been a smokey/silverish/blackish color with curved ends that go behind the ears, the pair that was delivered was a blondish/yellow with a straight frame running above the ear (no curve). They fixed the curve, but so what, I was still seeing cockeyed through them. I had tried on about four frames for the second purchased pair, and I specifically rejected the yellowish frame with no ear curve, my guess is that with the many pairs lying on the counter, they picked up the wrong pair for ordering. Thatâs almost $1,000 worth of eyeglasses into the garbage-can because theyâre all unusable. Iâll never again shop in any Cohenâs Optical...
