I came inside the store and ordered a medium hot latte, a cronut, and a plain croissant. The service was very nice. The establishment was orderly, clean, and had beautifully arranged display cases with an inviting layout. However, understanding how to navigate the ordering process requires a bit of familiarity. Fortunately, when thereās a steady flow of customers, itās easy to observe those whoāve been here beforeāknowing to grab tongs and a plastic tray, then follow the line to place orders. Thereās also a direct line for orders, making things fairly streamlined.
Upon receiving my coffee, I found it strange that despite being prompted to tip using the new computerized payment system, I still had to add my own sugar and condiments to a meticulously prepared coffee. An establishment of this level, given the price charged and the implied service fee, should be customizing drinks per customer order.
Now for the products: ā¢Ā Ā Ā The Cronut: This was my first-ever cronut, and sadly, it didnāt leave me wanting another one. While the texture succeeded in capturing the flakiness of a croissant, it completely missed the essence of what makes a donut enjoyable. Instead of a balanced pastry, it felt like an overly indulgent croissant filled with an overwhelming amount of buttercream, topped with sugar, and finished with even more cream. The buttercream itself was lackluster, lacking the richness and flavor expected from a dessert at this price point. ā¢Ā Ā Ā The Plain Croissant: The dough was rolled imperfectly, leaving a large hollow in the middle, suggesting no differentiation between how they prepare filled versus plain croissants. This shows a lack of respect for the traditional butter croissant, where layers should be evenly distributed and delicate. Additionally, the butter used had a much higher salt content, which might make sense when paired with sweet fillings, but it was far too salty for what a classic butter croissant should be.
Overall, it was an okay experience. The staff was polite, full of smiles, and the establishment itself was clean and welcoming. Hopefully, with time and attention to detail, these issues will be addressed. I may return and update this review if things improve, as I take my reviews seriously. If you donāt see an update, this is how my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ham and cheese baguette I ate was nice. I had it heated-up which made a difference. I washed it down with a cold bottle of diet coke, I didn't see any fountain service. Things that detracted were the unclean tables and loud ambient volume. My companion came up to the counter while I was waiting on my order and asked for a table wipe-down. I had gotten my order and walked over toward the table my companion chose. Several tables that needed a wipe down were between our furthest-from-counter table and the counter. Some had debris on them. Our table was wiped down but the other tables were not while we were there. It looks like an interesting concept but between kids screaming or crying and the poorly maintained seating area the tasty food had an uphill battle. Still, I gave it a 4 star rating, likely too generous but I did have excellent company which clearly nudged me toward a kinder disposition on reflection. I did see plenty of pastries and cakes that looked delicious and were well presented. My visit was on a Sunday which could mean that at best I had been served by the "B-team." Still, wipe downs should be ubiquitous regardless of which shift is working. Would I return? Maybe during a weekday. That baguette...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been coming here since they opened and loved coming here, but unfortunately after my experience today, I will not be returning. I went in there to purchase a cake and when I got up to the register, I asked the cashier if she knew if thereās nuts in any of the cakes. She was unsure, so she asked her co-worker, the boy with the crusty mustache and he stated with a massive attitude that not a single thing in that place has nuts. I didnāt believe him, because the literal menu above his head has items with hazelnut in it. So, I searched up the ingredients of the cake I ordered on the store website, and hazelnut was listed as an ingredient. I asked the girl if I could change the cake since they misinformed me about the original cake not having nuts. She then asked me if Iām sure I want that cake, as if it was my fault the cake has to be switched, to which I responded āYes, as long as thereās no nuts in it.ā She then adds āDoes it sound like thereās nuts in it?ā Clearly, if the name of every item on the menu included all of its ingredients, we wouldnāt be having this issue. Hopefully the hiring manager does a better job at weeding out incompetent individuals and educating staff on...
