(March 4th-ish 2024 ) Been here 4 years .. space staff and location are really great . Staff has been great !!
The management changed around Sep last year and since then a lot of the important machines have been falling out service, and not being fixed. Been constantly checking in with progress and the answer is always” they just came, they are looking into it, they are seeing, this location is next on the list ect “ . It’s been over 3 months of no real functioning leg extension machine just to name one. Adjustment Caps are missing as well.
So I’d check on what works before signing up.
(Just updating, from a month-ish ago some more machines Have fallen out of service ( a weight machine and 2 treadmills ) … a staff member said new machines are coming in another month or 2, but was told that that would happen in Feb … so yea, place is a mess atm unfortunately. Not sure what to do
6th of August update … still waiting for the new equipment( been saying it’s coming any day for the last 8 months ) …. Stuff is working but still plenty machines that either don’t work or very difficult to use). Staff has been great, but they are over justifying the lack of timely repairs and delays in equipment.
Update for Oct 23rd … same same .. plenty of machines are either offline or half working . The “new equipment “ replacing the half broken equipment promised is still nowhere to be seen. Going in 10 months of “yea it’s coming in the next 2 months for sure “. Wish I knew how to make this location more of a priority ( reminds me of when they didn’t have hot water for 7 months last year.
Feb 7th
Staff is still great! But non of the machines have been replaced .. and each week more fall in to “ out of service category” … they also just changed the shower nozzles and there is no pressure or volume anymore( at least there is hot water. Latest is new equipment ain’t coming till May time … Which wouldn’t be the end of the work if they fixed stuff.
Would love to find out how to advocate for this location !!
March 30th 2025 …
Hot water has been out for over a week.. I don’t understand, one can hardly imagine this happening in a Manhattan location !!!! How does one advocate for this place?!?!?
Corporate can’t be contacted and should step up !!! This hot water on and off thing has been going on for ages !!!!! Really disrespectful...
Read moreEDIT: The owners response is unacceptable. If "monitoring staffing levels" means having one team member available in the whole gym.. then y'all are simply not doing a good job. If you do not have enough staff to maintain equipment and cleanliness of the facility, you are again, doing a poor job at monitoring staffing levels. The EXCEPTIONAL customer service I experienced from the ONE staff member on the floor is proof that this is a management issue. You set members up for negative experiences by not adequately staffing and maintaining the hygiene of your facility. Special shoutout goes to Faith at the front desk! From the moment I arrived, she greeted me warmly and got me set up with a guest pass. She also followed up later in the evening for feedback on my experience. Her customer service was impeccable.
I ultimately decided not to move forward with a membership for two reasons: This location smells like a** and poor management.
As far I could tell there was only staff member at the location. One person responsible for checking in guests, membership signup, putting back equipment, refilling paper towels/cleaner, etc. That's ridiculous. It's a busy facility with long hours, y'all need more staff. I've seen many comments from management stating to bring this up with staff but if there is only one person on the floor, how are they supposed to take care of anything? There were also so many broken machines! Again how is anything supposed to be handled when the gym is clearly understaffed?
The 2nd floor generally feels like a biohazard. It's like the air filters haven't been changed or cleaned-- ever. I quit my workout early because I couldn't deal with the smell. The locker room wasn't too bad.. but I didn't want to risk being grossed out by the toilet so I went home to pee.
The only pro's are the array of machines and workout space. The top floor studio is very nice and there are tons of free-weights and machines you won't find at Planet Fitness or Blink. However the smell and lack of staffing of this facility are a MAJOR turn off.
3 stars solely for the variety of equipment and EXCELLENT customer...
Read moreI've been going to this location for almost two years; its strongest selling point is that there aren't really any other options. The front desk people are friendly, attentive, caring, and do their best. Most of the staff, including personal trainers, are just as friendly. However, the personal trainers need to be more universally informed about nutrition, form, or developing personalized fitness plans. The shower stalls look like they haven't been renovated in a decade if not longer, and many of the lockers are broken so you need a thick enough lock to hold it or else the locker pops open while remaining locked. The worst part is that I waste a lot of time on the floor looking for weights because the weights are constantly messy, missing, and disorganized, and many staff don't know the correct weight of variable equipment, which makes it difficult to measure the proper volume. I asked a PT trainer to explain the difference between the machine row and the mid row; they couldn't give me an answer. I asked another trainer to help me understand why my air squats were great but my lunges sucked, and instead of answering me with anything useful, he made some wild guesses (which turned out to be wrong) and he finished by trying to get me to sign up for personal training, which I already have and wasn't asking about. The showers have suffered from drain flies for years. The staff can be found hanging out when the floor is messy and equipment left lying around. The trainers don't clean up after their sessions.
The new owners have made a lot of improvements and are actively trying to connect with the local community. They've expanded the maintenance staff to include men serving the men's locker room and women service the women's locker room. The broken tiles at the entrance to the men's locker room have been fully repaired. The three stalls are almost always functional and almost always clean. They've improved the quality of the personal trainers, however, they still have a long way to go with teaching them nutritional information not sourced from social media and improving their...
