H0L0 — Attraction in New York

I don't know what to think of this place, honestly! Firstly, when I went, Google maps took you to the wrong door/side of the building. When you figure that out and get "inside" you're in a giant outdoor courtyard area. You then walk up some steps and down more steps into a winding basement corridor. Follow the music through some doors and you'll funnel out into this tiny club.

The DJ area was in the middle of the floor when I went. Not sure if it's like that all the time or not, but it was a cool feature. They have one small bar inside. I had two drinks. The first time I ordered, they had an IPA for me, the second time I was forced to get a mixed drink because they were out of beer. Can't comment on the price. I don't even pay attention anymore. It's NYC - they're expensive. The male bartender was SUPER nice and friendly. There were also two women behind the bar.

It was a crowded night so I was hanging out near the bar trying to stay out of the crowd. Someone wanted to get by me so I backed up to let him pass and one of the women tapped me on the shoulder and said "you can't lean on the bar." Yeah. I don't know who goes out to a club night and wants to lean on the bar, but it's clearly not me. I was dancing before that and I never stopped after that. I moved out of the way for a large man to have room to walk. It didn't take more than 30 seconds. So that was annoying.

Not sure if it's always like this or not, but they were open 'til 1PM, I think. They stop serving alcohol around 4AM and then resume serving at 9 or 10.

It was also REALLY foggy in here. Like...fog machine foggy. Kinda neat aesthetic. "Pretty" in a basement club kinda way.

Overall, I had a good night and would give this place another go...

Staff would not even look at my ticket but kept telling me I bought the wrong one. Wouldn't even let me show them what my ticket said. There were about five people working the admission booth and not a single one could offer an explanation about why my general admission ticket was not valid. They actually tried to tell me I arrived late even though my ticket said it was valid until 6am and it was not even 12pm yet. But yet again they would not look at my ticket. They definitely need some more practice organizing events as it seemed not a single person knew what they were talking about and instead of copping to whatever mistake they made with tickets- my entire group was met with rudeness. Wish I could have seen the space but I would say skip this one, especially if they have a special event since they don’t...

Always heard great things about the place but it wasn’t until recently when I started attending techno (edm) rave events there with the agape crew and techno Brooklyn . The sound system is great the different rooms for hardcore fans and others looking for something more chill is a great way for everyone to have fun . The staff is respectful and even tho certain individuals can get annoying the atmosphere the music the friends the vibes are something not most venues can match . Holo will be a special places for many specially myself walking around the neighborhood as a kid before it became holo and seeing what techno and electronic music does for the community really puts a smile on my face . I will be back and yall can and are welcome to attend any techno rave events...
