Harlem Meer is a man-made lake located in the northeast corner of Central Park at 110 Street. Lake has plenty of turtles who come close to shore in anticipation of food. There are many ducks, geese, and different species of fish in this lake. You can either stand at the edge of the lake or sit on the surrounding benches and enjoy the view and enjoy the birds so close to you. There is some renovation going at the moment, but after it is over, I am sure the area will be more appealing than before.

Read moreHarlem Meer is perfect for a day out with the kids. If you want to catch fish, you can for free, all you need is to visit the boat house and with proper ID (Adults need to show ID, not kids) children and adults can borrow a fishing pole and bait. Be mindful of the catch and release policy and you'll have a fun afternoon fishing! You can also spend a really fun afternoon walking/jogging/biking or even visiting the giant pool located just past the entrance. Only pitfall: if you're getting off on the subway at this location it's a tad rough and sometimes smells of urine, you might even be able to catch people fighting (yikes) but don't worry!! once you're Into Central Park things...

If you get here early enough you can borrow a free fishing set up & try & catch some blue gills or other fish but keep in mind that it's catch & release only anywhere in the park...or you can bring your own rod. The restrooms are small & not very clean (though it's very difficult to keep the restrooms clean here with the heavy use by all the crowds that come through). I recommend you walk a little further and use the restrooms at the Conservatory Gardens...the Gardens are...
