Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir People in New York jog anywhere, including on a busy bridge next to lots of cars with not so great air. On the other hand, this running track inside the Central Park offers serenity. I am too lazy to run, but I love walking on this track, looking at the skyscrapers that’s only a few miles away, yet tranquility in the area makes me feel as if I am in Westchester. I love looking at the reservoir while walking, especially when the water fled away with the sun; I am sure Arthur Rimbaud would have appreciated the scene. The track isn’t rubber made, so it gets wet after it rains / snows, but you see a number of joggers, regardless of conditions.

It’s just a reservoir surrounded by a track, so there’s nothing too much about this area to be touristy. Yet, I suppose the view of the skyscrapers with the water attracts people. Along with the joggers, you do occasionally see people taking pictures. On the eastern side, there are a few touristy spots in the neighborhood, including the museums such as Guggenheim Museum, the Jewish Museum, the MET, and the Frick. If from outside the city and touring around the area, walking a few more minutes to the reservoir gives an...

A FABULOUS SIGHT ! We walked around Central Park back in 2021 but somehow missed seeing Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. NOT THIS TIME ! My wife and I were enjoying a 2 week vacation in New York, NY starting on Wed, Sept 4th 2024. We jumped on the subway from near our brownstone apartment in Upper Manhattan on Tuesday, Sept 10th to Columbus Circle in Downtown. We walked across to Central Park and rented a couple of bicycles. WHATTA SIGHT ! And then we rode completely around Central Park stopping to admire the beautiful Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. SO...

One of my favorite spots in Central Park.

The view, the reservoir, the breeze… coming here always bring peace to me. I usually come during the weekend, having a walk in the surrounding areas and also stopping by at the Met afterwards. Or before :)

It has jogging tracks and benches along the area so you can rest for a while if you are strolling the area. It looks wonderful during spring with all the blossoms. But my fave is the Fall, as the trees change...

CENTRAL PARK CHERRY BLOSSOM CRAWL 🌸 • This weekend is a great time to bike or walk around Central Park to see all of the cherry blossoms! 📍 Cherry Hill: Mid-Park at 72nd Street 📍 East Side of Reservoir: Mid-Park at 86th-96th Streets 📍 Pilgrim Hill: East Side at 73rd Street 📍 Sheep Meadow: West Side at 66th-69th Streets 📍 West Side of Reservoir: Mid-Park at 86th-96th Streets (previously Okames in bloom but now in pre-peak for Kwanzan) 📍 Great Lawn: Mid-Park at 79th-85th Streets Use the @centralparknyc Cherry Blossom Tracker to find the peak cherry blossoms! Super helpful as I planned my route. Transportation tip: My advice would be to bike to a certain area of the park and then dock your bike - if taking @citibike - and then get a new one to bike to the next area. It was a little bit of a pain to have your bike with you to get from tree to tree, especially in pedestrian only portions of the park. Spending a few hours and walking from point to point (maybe with a picnic in between?) is also a lovely way to spend the day! Which cherry trees are your favorite? #nyc #nycforfree #explorenyc #centralpark #cherryblossom #cherryblossomnyc #nycnature #nycspring
