I hate leaving negative reviews but this is my honest experience. I had a broken nail and went to them (being the closest salon where I was), I told the lady I wanted a fill with acrylic powder and french tips. She proceeded to remove all of my current tips and told me how bad of a job my current nails were that she’d make it perfect. There was nothing wrong with my original nails BTW. She applied the acrylic TOO thick and bumpy, when I tried to examine the shape/ thickness she grabbed my hands and shoved them in the lamp to dry (not sure why I needed UV light to dry acrylic powder, never did that before). When it came to the base polish she insisted I used the trending “bubble bath or funny bunny”, idc for trends I wanted a neutral base that compliments my skin and looks natural. She proceeded to apply 3 coats of gel and couldn’t manage to make the french design. Adding the white, some were very off/ not touching the pink and overall too messy for my liking. I asked for pricing a few times and she’ll reply with “I’ll tell you when we’re done”, obviously I didn’t want to keep nagging. There was gel underneath on my real nails and I asked her to remove it but she refused saying it’ll come off in the shower. I paid $80… YES $80 for this catastrophe when MY salon would’ve cost $40 (Royal Nails on Jamaica Ave). I was super disappointed in how they turned out and I asked her to file away the sides from looking like duck nails. Clearly she didn’t want to. It took 2.5hrs for her to do a simple french tip start to end. Throughout the whole process she kept staring at me and speaking a different language making me feel uncomfortable. DO NOT GO HERE. Completely OVERPRICED and can’t do acrylic basic designs. The other girls left with regular gel polish on their nails so I assume they cater to simple minimal 1 color work which is fine. Save your money and time. Ps: you may think it looks fine in the photos but in person...
Read moreI went to Karma Nails & Spa on June 20th to get SNS dip powder on my hands. It was a very clean salon and the technicians that assisted me were very friendly. One technician helped with a wrap for a broken nail while the other worked on the rest of my nails. I selected a light pink color and asked if there was glitter in it, she told me no. After three coats of the SNS powder, there was visible glitter specks in it. When I pointed it out to her, she told me the lighting in the salon didn't allow her to notice before. I had already been there for an hour and my nails were done so I didn't make a big deal out of it - even though I wasn't a fan of the glitter, I didn't have the time to get it re-done (nor was I sure if she would re-do it without charging me, but that's on me for not inquiring). The cost was $40 ($35 for SNS + $5 for one nail wrap) and I tipped her $10 = total, $50. One week later, my hair kept getting caught in my nails when I ran my fingers through, similar to the way acrylic nails do when it's time for a filling. On June 29th, the nail (meaning the powder) simply fell off my right hand thumb (the left hand thumb had the wrap - which is still standing strong today). The days following, one by one, the nails (SNS powder over my real nails) fell off as if they were press-on nails. It was embarrassing so I peeled the rest off - they came off like they were paper on my nails. They didn't even last 2 full weeks; a manicure would have lasted longer and cost a fraction. I have had SNS done twice before and both times they lasted up to 3 weeks, each. This was a disappointment because even as I was leaving, I asked my technician if she would be available the week of 7/15 so I could come get them re-done before an event on 7/20. I am not sure if the powder she used had gone bad (expired?) or her application method was incorrect but it was a waste of money and I will not...
Read moreI’ve tried three (3) separate occasions to give this location a fresh review, my last time will be the final time. I called and asked about a soak off removal of acrylic nails and gel manicure. Note I asked for a soak off. I arrived around 12:15PM, no one in the salon, after 2 soak off attempts and multiple filings, this is how I left the salon after I was advised they had to be cut shorter because of how thin they were. You mean after almost 2 hours of stripping AND filing with two different machines, my once healthy nails are thin? If that wasn’t enough, I was argued back with by the owner? That it was my fault because I asked for a removal and she had to take all of it off. Honesty is the best policy is a true statement here. If you are unskilled in acrylic removal or any service of any kind, please be honest. Now I have to rebuild my nail strength up because the owner cares more about $$$ than quality. My nails are now PAPER THIN. It is seemingly my fault because she had to remove it, she claims but not in such an excessive way. 3 different forms of manipulation to my nails. I understand filing one or two times over a nail to either 1. Give it some sort of surface for the gel and/acrylic to stick to or 2. Final sealing of the cuticle, 3. Etc. but my nails were being filed for 15 minutes at a time. Again, only person in the salon and still 1.5+ hours for a removal and simple manicure? Still prioritizing taking out the trash and everything else in the salon but the client right in front of you. Didn’t even get to the polish. Inexcusable. There’s a reason the...
