I usually never leave reviews for a supermarket because they are essential for food and everyday items. However, I have encountered the same issue for the 3rd time in a row more specifically in this year alone. I have come to conclusion that the people who work here are racist towards anybody else that aren’t their own e.g. white Caucasian of Italian or Greek descendants. They refused me to walk into the store. I had just finished a jog and wanted to grab a carton of milk before going home. I had on a fanny pack around my waist and the girl with sandy blonde hair and glasses yesterday (October 29th) said I could not enter the store if I don’t hand over my bag. For reference, the fanny pack size is the size of my phone which I had my phone in there alongside with my wallet and house keys. I told her respectfully I would like to keep it on me because it is like a purse. She got rude and disrespectfully raised her voice and said my boss said no bags allowed. Me being the introvert I am with no desire of verbal confrontation or altercation, I looked at her crazy and walked out. This was the third time almost of a similar situation to have happened to me in the past. There were a few other times this had happened to other people (black and Spanish) I have witnessed and they had a hard time while I was shopping towards the front of the produce. It’s like they pick and choose when they want to be unprofessional. I actually am half Italian but look more of a diff ethnicity. I have gone to this store since my childhood years and I am now 46. Nobody deserves to be treated like criminals and I’m sorry to say it but it is always the white people. Do better Keyfoods!!! Will be reporting to BBB even though I know nothing will be...
Read moreThey treat their customers like criminals and have no courtesy. You have to leave your reusable bags at the entrance before you are allowed into the store . Once you get to the register with your groceries they bring your bags to your register. I’ve never experienced this in all my 20 years living in NYC. Twice I’ve purchased food that was spoiled. This is my first returned item which is refrigerated moldy pasta WITH the receipt and the manager didn’t even apologize for the spoilage. First of all, you cannot go into the store with the return, you have to return the item first then take your bag back to the entrance then go get your replacement item (in my case I got the dried RAO’s pasta because I was in the middle of cooking dinner when I realized the other pasta had mold) then I had to stand in a long line to purchase the new pasta. Oye! They are not your friendly neighborhood grocery that you would expect. It’s such a shame. We just moved to the Bronx from Queens and I want to support our local markets but I will not be made to feel like a criminal. Their prices are also very high! If they have a problem with shoplifters They need to think of a better solution to serve the community while protecting their store. Customers spend a lot of money in this store. My mistake for thinking I bought a home in a decent neighborhood, I didn’t realize I moved to a ghetto. Such a shame. I don’t recommend shopping here and will drive to another neighborhood for my groceries where I’m appreciated as a...
Read moreFriendly staff but the prices are high. I usually shop here when I need the bulk of my groceries but if I really want to get more for my money there are 2 Stop n Shops close by enough to walk, take a bus or cab, drive there and back. This Keyfood has a selection that reflects the neighborhood. Pasta/Pasta Sauce usually on sale and they have fresh mozzarella as well. There is also a butcher at this location; I don't utilize the butcher so I can't honestly tell you what if any meats they have to offer. I know butchers in supermarkets are a rare commodity nowadays. Shelves always stocked and produce appears to be fresh never seen anything passed the expiration date here. The aisles need to be wider, don't understand how this supermarket has all this space outside but seems to be sitting on a smaller footprint was small aisles. I prefer to go early morning on Sundays when they open at 7am. I can move freely & don't have to deal with lines and people hitting with their shopping carts. If a snowstorm is predicted for overnight or the next day, avoid this place with all your might. If you need a few items go to another store. This place was jammed packed, the evening I walked in here before a...
