Want THE BEST OLD FASHIONED ITALIAN BREAD? Pastry and cakes with old fashioned flavor? This is the place. Their cakes, pastry, pies, and cookies are incredible . They are indescribably delicious and fresh. Everything I try is made the way it was made years ago; old world goodness. We started to go once weekly when we found their Jumbo NY Black and Whites had the time tested flavor of yesteryear that virtually disappeared from other bakeries. They are on a definite par with the best Italian bakeries in both the Bronx and Manhattan. The only difference is the price which is much less expensive than all the others! The staff is very, very nice and though youngsters, are very friendly and patient with people who have a hard time deciding what to buy. They are located on Buhre Avenue in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx. Get there early for bread, cookies, and Tea biscuits; they go fast. I ordered a cake from this bakery more than a week in advance for a very special occasion, and the entire experience was beyond frustrating. When I placed my order, I received a carbon copy receipt clearly showing the date of the order, the pick-up date, and the price—standard procedure, right? On the day we were supposed to pick up our cake, they not only tried to gaslight us by claiming we had the wrong pick-up date but also physically altered the date on our receipt by overwriting it! To make matters worse, they told us we would have to pick it up three days later—on the day of our special occasion, leaving us completely unprepared. Absolutely unacceptable! They essentially lied to cover their mistake . They created an inconvenience for us by telling us to come back to pick up a cake that was not fresh.

Cake was good. Not to excited with the visual of it, was plain Jane, NO imagination even after I told her it was a 50th Birthday. No Happy 50th written on it, there was room. I had to buy the candles to make it look like a 50th BD cake. When it was time to pay I didn't have cash on me only CC, went to an ATM came back to the bakery only to hear the girl behind the counter talking about who comes in to buy without cash, she quickly stopped talking after noticing I was the person with no cash. What I don't understand is why that establishment doesn't take CC. As I was paying her I told her, sorry I don't carry cash, making sure she knew that I heard her.
