Leif Ericson Park — Attraction in New York

My usual go to park, to walk around lots of people in and around the park as it spans several avenues. On some occasions I have run into people bbqing at the basketball court. My complaints would be they don't upkeep the grass surrounding the park often and there is no area for dog owners to let their pups free despite the vast free area that normally gets utilized for people to small amounts of people lounging around. With the number of dog owners in the vicinity the park would be even better if a small section could be safely fenced for dog...

This place is really big and I usually go there by myself when I want some fresh air. The bathrooms there are pretty big and it is actually really clean for a park bathroom. There are multiple areas to this park. First, there are basketball courts and a volleyball court. Then there are the swings and playground. Then you can find the water sprayer area and some stone tables where elders usually play chess. Finally you can find the stretching and exercising place of the park. This park itself is also pretty clean with few garbage found...

Not what I would call a "destination" type park, but if you live around here or are ever in the area by chance I would definitely say give it a look before you leave. It also leads in well to Owl head park (which is "destination worthy"). Great place to workout, have a scenic walk towards the water, or even take a calming drive on the tree lined highway entrance. The park also serves as a natural border between two neighborhoods vibrant in their own ways; or a cultural "dmz"....
