Community! Connection! Kindness! Are all the feels I experience as soon as I walk in here.
City League Coffee Rosters is my feel-good space. Not only is the coffee outstanding, and the treats absolutely delicious, but the atmosphere caters to the community.
Looking for some alone time to read or relax? This is the perfect spot to chill and unwind.
Working remotely? You’ll feel right at home here. I’ve worked from this café countless times over the past two years, and it’s always been a spacious, clean, and comfortable environment. Fellow co-workers are consistently respectful, making it an ideal workspace.
Craving connection or conversation? This place fosters a welcoming vibe where sparking up a chat with another human feels natural and easy.
Seeking community? Look no further! Check out their Instagram for updates on the fantastic events they host throughout the year.
Want to enjoy a cozy outdoor space in warmer months? Their private backyard is perfect for sipping a delicious beverage and savoring a treat in the sunshine.
Need a restroom? Despite a few comments suggesting otherwise, I can assure you the bathroom is available and accessible. In the 75+ visits I’ve made here over the past two years, I’ve never encountered an issue. The bathroom is located past the front counter and is always unlocked and clean. If you are a NYC sports fan, then you will definitely dig the bathroom décor. What I have witnessed is how empathetic all the employees are no matter who walks in the door.
This spot really is a go-to for so many reasons. Whether you’re here for the coffee, the community, or just a moment of peace, this café and the City Leaguers have you covered. Plus this is one of my favorite places to shoulder dance in, as the tunes are always grooving, from 90’s hip hop and...
Read moreI’m re-writing this post because my review was 'mysteriously' removed. I visited this place yesterday afternoon. It was my first time at this establishment, and I was unfamiliar with its menu. An older gentleman was conversing with the shop owner at the ordering station. I stood directly behind him, waiting to be acknowledged. Apparently, attempted eye contact was equated to a vocal acknowledgment. While waiting, I was on my phone, trying to pass the time. Amidst this, another woman with her child walked directly before me, disregarding my presence. Instead of asking this new customer to wait, the owner immediately catered to her, making me very uncomfortable. I was disappointed at not being verbally acknowledged and decided to leave. At no point did the owner acknowledge me beyond a blank stare. Instead of taking ownership and trying to alleviate the problem, I received a passive-aggressive response via Google reviews from the owner, who implied I was complicit in his actions. A simple, 'I’m sorry, I think a customer is waiting before you; how can I help you?' could have avoided this entire situation. It looks pretty immature and speaks to his character, not just as a business owner but as someone occupying space in a culturally embedded neighborhood. This review aims to share my experience, and I hope it serves as a teachable moment for the establishment. You may not always be remembered for your actions, but you will be remembered for how you made...
Read moreSeveral days ago, a friend and I decided to check this coffee shop out on the recommendation of a friend. We entered the shop which was fairly empty and we were the only patrons waiting to be served. We were not greeted by the staff - in fact the two employees on shift made a conscious effort to move away from the register and have a conversation amongst themselves (photo below.) My friend and I were reviewing the menu and discussing what we might order so initially it wasn’t an issue that we weren’t being served or even acknowledged. After standing near the register for several minutes, and an attempt to ask a question to the employee that was outright ignored, we decided to spend our money at one of the many other fantastic Bay Ridge coffee shops that actually wants business. As we were leaving the shop, another man entered and was immediately greeted and serviced by the employees. This incensed me and I decided to return to take some additional photos to show just how empty the shop was and how there was no excuse for the employees to blatantly ignore us completely other than perhaps racism or just plain hipster judgement. This place is trash based on the complete lack of customer service and clique-ish...
