This place was probably great in its heyday when the mall first opened but as of recently ever since corporate became more involved and invested into this location, everything has gone downhill. This Macys location is doing terrible with their sales goals so if youāre currently looking to score a coupon or an extra discount take advantage of that opportunity now because the managers will bend over backwards and disregard company policy to appease you. Got a purchase you made outside of the return policy? Come to this location and theyāll honor it for you! Received an item with stains on it? Theyāll honor it for you! Got some shoes with a little scuff marks on it? Theyāll honor it for you!
From the previous reviews Iāve seen, people complain about the attitudes of the employees, stating that theyāre ārudeā or look ātiredā but I believe that energy should be directed towards the managers. Unfortunately, employees are under an immense amount of pressure to make not only their sales goal but also credit goals. Credit goals are accumulated whenever you apply for the Macys credit card. Lately, the managers are teaching the employees to change their pitch in order to get that credit. They will specifically tell employees to lie by asking if you would like to sign up for a āMacys store cardā making you believe that it is a ārewards cardā similar to what you get at a supermarket, for example, Stop Nā Shop. The Macys store card is actually a Macys credit card which will require a credit check, credit checks of any kind will affect your credit score negatively so please do not be misled as this is may be fraudulent, and you may have grounds to file a lawsuit against them depending on the circumstances.
In recent events, I have observed severely understaffed departments being overworked and under appreciated. Two people are tasked with having to clean and recover all three floors of this store. In the ready to wear section, one or two employees will be tasked with having to clear up to 13 rods of clothing in the span of less than two hours on top of ringing out customers and maintaining the fitting rooms with no help from the managers whatsoever. In fact, the managers will walk around and chat with one another, be on their phones or actively avoid customers as best as they can. So if you plan on coming to this location and making a mess of the place, please donāt. These people work very hard for so little.
On July 28th, 2025, a black female employee at womenās shoes was verbally abused and THREATENED by a customer over a five cent bag fee. The manager of that department, Jason, a Caucasian man, did nothing to help her. He told security to not step in as this customer was in her face threatening to hit her and actually gave the customer a $25 coupon for the āinconvenienceā. The employee, expressed deep disappointment in her managerās inaction to ensure her safety. But even after the customer received the coupon, she was still threatening the employee and even returned to where she was to again harass her, until finally security stepped in to remove her from the premises. Jason then took this employee to the side, and actually scolded her for not properly de-escalating the situation. Reiterating Macys strict conduct policy, and their standards of providing excellent customer service even if the customer is absolutely abusive and rowdy towards the employees. Again, the managers will do whatever it takes to appease you even if it endangers the employee. So if youāre an angry disgruntled customer, take advantage of these managers desperate attempts to bring you back to spend more money at this location!
Lastly, the deals maybe great at Macys but do not be fooled, much of their clothes and shoes at this location are a hit or miss. This location is pretty small in comparison to Macyās flagship store on 34th street, so there arenāt a lot of good selections to pick from. Youāre better off just buying online or maybe even somewhere else entirely as the quality in Macyās products has declined...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFragrance session of Macyās.....This section is horrible... stop hiding your prices and there will be no confusion. I asked a simple question... "how much is this?" I was told $112.00. Great! They even sold me on the freebie travel size cologne.. I thought it was a great deal..."Ring me up!" I'm then sent to another area to actually pay and the person who was there (not the same person I started with) rings up the purchase and says" That'll be $161.47" Excuse me? How did we get there from $112.00.... She then proceeds to find who told me that price after I made a bit of a fuss... once found, the associate apologizes and tells me she made a "mistake"... Now I'm getting frustrated and asked for a manager... She goes to get Anna, she comes back and states " My manager said there is nothing she could do for you about the price, the most we could do is give you some free samples". ---- Ok... now I'm appalled and insulted... First, Anna, did not value me enough as a customer to even come out and speak with me herself. Second, Samples?! Really?! I'm looking for a resolution, even if it's a small gesture toward the price... Samples are nice but that was not the answer here... had she come out and evaluated the situation herself, she would have seen that... I then told the associate, who was very nice and apologetic to go back and tell ANNA, that the customer would like to speak with a manager. The associate came back and stated ANNA would come see me, just give her a couple of minutes... I stood there for 15 minutes... Anna never came... Finally another manager, Frank, came out to speak with me. He was amazing and very professional in how he handled the situation... He did not give me the price I was told, but he did a lot better than offering me free samples. He and a few other associates there who were very lovely, still gave me the free samples as well. Frank relieves my frustration and I left happy. Anna could take some training from Frank...thank you Frank. Anna is not management material... sorry, but I managed a retail store for 8 years and I was happy to turn any unhappy customer into a happy one... Macy's, please do do better with your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanna preface this by saying that I live close by to Bay Plaza Mall, and this is normally my go to Macys. Iāve been here multiple times, and most of the employees usually recognize me when I come in to make a purchase. That being said, most of the time when I shop here I am tailed by a security guard that seems to think that Iām here to steal. Every time I come in and this specific security guard is working, he tails me throughout the store, despite having seen me make purchases multiple times. I have no issues with any of the other security guards except for this one. Heās a slightly heavy set Latino man with glasses and facial hair. Anywhere I go, whether Iām in the cosmetics or perfume section, he is never too far away, which is insulting to say the very least. This man has seen me numerous times over the past few months, more often than not leaving the store with my purchase in hand. It would be different if this was a one time encounter, and maybe he was following me because it was his first time seeing me (and even then, that wouldnāt excuse the atrocious behavior of racially profiling someone), but heās seen me much more than once, and Iāve never at any time seen him tail any of the other customers except for me. Tonight, he was once again following me as I tried to smell different fragrances and look at the perfume sets.I would have said something and confronted him, however I didnāt want to cause a scene as the store was an hour from closing, and I didnāt know if management was still in store to handle the issue. This is my breaking point, and Iām seriously considering no longer shopping at this Macys at all. Itās completely unacceptable for your staff to be racially profiling black customers, especially considering this specific store is located in a predominantly black neighborhood. I have spent entirely too much money at this Macys to experience this kind...
