A Stellar Experience at The New York Hall of Science!

Every now and then, you stumble upon a place that not only captivates your child's imagination, but yours too, and the New York Hall of Science is exactly that place. I'm delighted to award a full 5-star rating to this awe-inspiring institution - a treasure trove of knowledge and fun, skillfully interwoven.

From the moment we set foot in the building, we were met with a whirlwind of colors, sounds, and most importantly, excitement. This center for exploration and discovery is an ideal outing for children, combining the thrill of interactive play with the educational benefits of a museum, making learning science a captivating journey rather than just a subject in school.

What truly sets the New York Hall of Science apart is its ability to cater to children of all ages. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed to engage young minds, encouraging them to ask questions, hypothesize, and problem solve. They're not just observing science - they're doing it. The hands-on nature of the exhibits brought complex concepts to life, ensuring the kids learned while fully immersed in enjoyment.

I particularly want to highlight the staff who were exceptional in their commitment to creating a positive and instructive experience. Their patience and expertise were evident as they guided my children through different exhibits, answering their avalanche of questions with enthusiasm and kindness.

But it's not just about the exhibits - the New York Hall of Science goes above and beyond with their presentations and workshops. They are engaging, exciting, and more importantly, they make complex scientific concepts accessible to the younger audience. The Planetarium was a family favorite, leaving us all in awe of the cosmos.

Our visit to the New York Hall of Science was a day well spent - a day of endless discovery and wonderment that managed to entertain as much as it educated. It's a place where science comes alive for children and adults alike.

In a world where screens often rule, this gem provides a much-needed break, combining play with learning in the most wonderful way. If you're looking for a kid-friendly, educational, and engaging experience, look no further than the New York Hall of Science. We can't wait for...

Thought it would be a fun experience for my children, including an under 10yo wheelchair user, but instead the visit was filled with disappointment. We purchased tickets ahead of time, planned our visit by reading about the exhibits, and talked about which to visit first. Arrived to find the US Open was moved up and now happening at the same time, using the same parking lot ($12 to park even w/o the event), entered quickly and proceeded towards our first planned area. Disappointment #1- exhibit closed, no sign, no explanation, no staff to advise us of the closure as we merrily headed towards it. Bring on disappointment #2- next exhibit, most, if not all, of the items were broken. Okay, fine, understandable with how destructive kids are. Disappointment #3- despite advertising accessibility, many of the exhibits were out of reach, or couldn't be seen by my child unless I removed her from her wheelchair and held her up (stools were around for shorter visitors, but no consideration for those who cannot climb). So, closed exhibits, broken exhibits, and inaccessible interactive exhibits. Disappointment #4- paid extra for the Rocket Mini-Golf. Fun, right? Well you decide... Holes are CLEARLY identified 1-9 and you are supposed to progress around the course, sinking your ball at the final hole, where it is swallowed up, signifying the end of your game. That should be how it is followed. Nope, families instead chose to just push onto whichever hole their misbehaved children wanted to jump on. Kids stole our golf balls (that we would have to pay to replace), kids physically sat in and climbed on the "hazards" of holes where we and other families were trying to play. No staff intervened, no security stepped in to advised parents to corral their loose kids, no signage stating "follow the course as indicated" or "return your club upon finishing hole 9". Disappointment was replaced with aggravation. Museum staff were unapologetic, displayed no empathy, when asked about compensation for a visit racked with issues of ableism and poor communication.

I would not recommend for any families that include mobility...

Update: I absolutely love the NY Hall of Science! Today was my family’s third visit, and it never disappoints. From the mini-golf course to the outdoor playground, the bubble exit, and the Lego room, my 5- and 9-year-old kids always have a blast and never run out of fun things to do. This place truly offers something special for everyone.

For parents, the experience is just as enjoyable, thanks to the outstanding customer service. A special shoutout to Mr. Peter in the café near the front desk area. In an era where exceptional service is rare, he stands out as a true gem. Not only are his barista skills incredible (his drinks put Starbucks to shame), but his dedication, work ethic, and warm personality make the café a highlight of our visits.

The NY Hall of Science is fortunate to have someone of Mr. Peter’s caliber, along with so many other talented and committed staff members. It’s clear they prioritize hiring top talent, and it truly enhances the overall experience. My family can’t wait to return for our next visit!

First Review- I took my family there - wife, 9 year old daughter, and 5 year old son today for the second time and they had a blast! Two attractions that we didn't take advance of the first go around were the science playground and mini golf which were huge hits for both of them. Additionally, they really enjoyed the Lego area and everything else the hall of science had to offer which is such a one stop shop for so many things that they enjoy doing. I would also be doing a disservice to not mention the wonderful customer service and pleasant experience we've had with all staff there, particularly in the cafeteria area from the gentlemen in the espresso area that helped us in the foodline as well. The service was beyond helpful, top notch and so delightful. Such hard workers there which is a testament to the training staff but such a talented and kind selection of individuals to have working with the kids! All around top notch experience and looking forward to...
