I heard so much about Park Side Restaurant from friends. I never been there before. I took the opportunity to have a farewell dinner there for one of my parish priest there. The reservation for 6:30pm and we arrived slightly early. They seated us even though not all the party are there yet which is really nice. As soon as we sat a waiter arrived with the menu and a helper brought variety of breads and a plate of cheese and toasted thin slice of bread with tomato topping. Drizzle with olive oil. The slice of toast and tomatoes was a nice treat. The tomatoes just lightly crushed, right balance of salt and pepper with a bit of herbs. Delicious. Waiter came back less than 10 minutes to ask what we would like to drink. So my friend and I ordered margaritas and that was so refreshing since the weather was a bit warm outside. Right balance of alcohol and lime juice. After all the guest of honor arrived, we ordered appetizer of grilled octopus and fried calamari. Both appetizers were delicious. The octopus was tender and deliciously marinated. Calamari also tender with nice marinara sauce. I shared porterhouse steak with my friend, another friend ordered salmon, and the guest of honor ordered fillet mignon. The serving was bigger than I expected. The waiter was accommodating to our request of things. The meals was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately I did not take any pictures to share with this review. I skipped the dessert but my friend had dessert. They said their dessert were delicious. Overall, we had so much fun and a little bit too much to drink in my part because I had two glasses of margarita. Overall, the waiters were very friendly, not pushy and very accommodating. We all came out happy and plenty of porterhouse steak left over for my friend to bring home. While waiting for our car, there were two other diners chatting and their remark was this place is always serve great foods. It is my first time and I concurred with the two diners remark and will...
Read moreHands down the best Italian Restaurant in New York City. Also one of the top restaurants of any kind in NYC. Every time here is nothing short of magical. Always a pleasure to be greeted and seated by Alfredo the Maitre' D - a true professional. The atmosphere is old school classy Italian. The staff is large and everyone is working in unison like a a well oiled machine but each is happy and pleasant - never get any attitude here. You are the star of the show here. The food is consistently outrageously delicious. The best bread basket ever which includes prosciutto bread and olive bread cannot be beat. This time we had Octopus, Mozzarella in Corrozza, and a Caesar salad as first course. Octopus was tender and plentiful in an olive sauce. We always get the Mozzarella in Corrozza as it is the best (red sauce with capers) The Caesar is classic and you actually taste the anchovies (not a glorified mayonnaise as you get elsewhere)
Second pasta course - Linguine with Carbonara. If you never had this before it is a must try. We have this every time also as it is a stand out. Creamy sauce with Pancetta bacon perfectly spiced. This alone would be a fine meal. We also tried the special rigatoni with lamb ragu and mint sauce thanks to my son who picked this one. Lamb and fresh mint in a red sauce, the pasta cooked perfectly - very tasty.
Main course Special Boneless short rib over polenta ( It must have been good as my son devoured it) A nice sized portion of tender beef goodness. Filet Mignon - better than most fancy steak houses. Perfectly cooked and the peppercorn sauce on the side was a decadent splurge. My favorite is the Veal Spiedini. I keep ordering this one lately instead of my usual Veal chop because it is an unusual dish that nobody else makes and it is fabulous. Veal rolled up with pignoli, cheese and pesto inside. A taste explosion in your mouth that is unforgettable....
Read morelet me start off by saying this is a legendary restaurant in queens rip tough tony. The food is great and decently priced also the valet service is helpful because finding parking in the area is tough.
However, the service is some of the worst I’ve ever experienced in my restaurant experience. And I’ve received bad service on multiple occasions, I even tried to justify it and say everyone has an off day but after multiple attempts and seeing others complain about the same issue I’ve realized it’s just a problem at this restaurant. Yesterday when we were given our menus I asked our waiter for a wine menu and he was confused and asked if i wanted a glass or a bottle and I said can I just get the physical menu and he still had no idea what I was asking for, eventually he just brought the menu but that was a little frustrating. We got our appetizer almost right away but our entree took almost 40 minutes, I even saw the waiter check to see if our food was out and when he saw it wasn’t I’m assuming he went to put it in. After we finished eating I asked for my check and after like 20 minutes I asked again, It took almost an hour to get my check, so I just ended up paying cash to not have to wait another 30 minutes.
Like I said earlier the food is great the restaurant itself is legendary and has a lot of history but the service lately is horrible (I’ve been here with good service too but the last couple times it’s been bad). The bad service deters me from wanting to go back and it’s a shame cause I really love the restaurant but I get better service almost anywhere else. I’ve worked in a restaurant too and I can tell when someone is being treated poorly...
