So the only reason I am going to rate it this way is because when my family and I got there the transition was smooth. The people there were polite. However the wait was crazy I was in there for like 9 hours. I got there at 7am and I didnât leave until 5pm. When you get there you have to go to the desk downstairs they give you an application to fill out letting them know that u are basically homeless and you need placement. When you get there you have to have all your documents, birth certificates, IDS, social security cards, a letter from someone you stayed with that can confirm you lived with them for 2 years. No the letter doesnât have to be notarized. They then send you to the second floor and a worker calls your phone if you have one or the phone that is upstairs at the desk. However when you enter the second floor they ask you for your ticket so they can scan the ticket number. After the worker calls you they then send you to the third floor, that is where your wait begins for like 8-9 hours. Same routine you continue third floor show them your ticket number, you wait in the waiting room until your ticket number is called, when your ticket number is called that is when a worker will call your phone. After the 2nd call they send you to the fifth floor to drop off all of your documents. Now when I got to the fifth floor I ran into a rude worker. Her attitude was so nasty. She was so mean to me. Honestly I was very upset because so many people already have to come up there to get help, they or we are already going through something and to have someone talk to you the way this lady spoke to me was very mind blowing. So after the fifth floor they send you down to the first floor in the basement, samething show your ticket number and you wait to be called so that u can be placed. Once you are on the first floor you are just waiting for your placement. My family and I werenât placed until about 5:30pm-6 pm. When my family and I did arrive to our placement we still had to go through intake so we didnât get into our room until like 8:30pm. When you get your placement you are now waiting for path to let you know if you are eligible to continue staying in your placement. You can hear anything from them in like 3 to 4 weeks. When I heard from path again it was to tell me that my family and I were ineligible. So we had to go back to path and do the whole entire process again. It was a little different because the second time we went in filled out our paperwork at the front desk. Then a lady comes upstairs and she says anybody that are already in a placement please follow me and she takes u downstairs where u would go when u are being placed. You sit there they give u a ticket and then they send you back to the 3rd floor where u wait for hours. After the worker calls you they send you to the fourth floor to give any documents that could have been forgotten. Then they send you back to the first floor to wait until they call your ticket number again. And then you go back to the same placement they already had you in. It is not a guarantee that you will get placed where you want to be placed. They will ask you for suggestions but it ainât a guarantee that you will get placed there. There are people who kids go to school in Brooklyn and they wound up being placed all the way in queens or in the Bronx etc. You will go to the path center in the Bronx but your placement can be God knows where. However my overall experience was ok besides the long wait and the rude interaction between myself and the worker on the...
Read moreIâm not going to lie so many reviews scared meâ I almost didnât go but then itâs like where was I supposed to go be forreal! But yes I arrived around 11 pm and it was a little line out side to get in but i wasnât to stressed I went in there with a mindset that Iâm going to be here all day! (I also smoked to relive stress before going in) by the time I got checked in to the ticket window from the line I got my ticket at 2:22 pm I was sent up stairs and I just sat and waited they were short on case workers I saw L200 as soon as I sat down mines was L203 so I was like not to bad â it wasnât packed but it was fullâ my ticket number just never came up they had other La passing me but because they were working from home I believe thatâs why others got pushed upâ other than that around 7pm a person came up and told us to go down stairs and see if we had got placement which I went down and was placed they offered me transportation and I believe Iâm still waiting for my interview but I was placed in a safe studio apartment with my infant , only thing I would complain about is there is no ac so I had to buy a fan with the little money I had left to my name! But they offer help with pampers and milk so I definitely took advantage of that and bought a fan! Itâs my 2nd night here but I feel like going in this place u just need to think of urself pray to god through your the day and IGNORE THE PEOPLE AROUND U! The negative energy would pass like a yawn ! Everyone was asking for help so much but I truly just stayed in my corner with my son thankfully he was behaving the whole day! And I ignored others around meâ and prayed I never been so calm I usually get over frustrated etc but I saw the frustration I the employees and even if they was rude to me they was also very kind! They just have energy others put on them! But I only had one bad experience with that and it was the security officer in front! But like I said she dealing with lots of people so I understand ! Right after I listen and didnât take nothing she said to heart she was very sweet after! She even saw me again and asked if everything was going ok for me! So I was happy i didnât yell back at her and let her fustrate me! It takes one person to make ur day bad! But be kind everyone is going thru it! Have patients take a nap and just wait for the number to be called donât harass the people! You will be placed at least for the night They will not turn u around â so as I am waiting the rest of my process I pray for everyone going thru this! Itâs not fun being homeless but this place offer me help and I feel safe! Truly my soul feels safe â I am tired of feeling scared and unsafe not comfortable and wondering how was I going to survive the night pay rent etcâ I feel so much better with the help of them! Do it you got...
Read moreThis is the family shelter processing center. Anyone who has a child be it mother/father/child. Or any mix in between are welcome here to get as much help as they can get. Starting by giving free meals all day long then by giving you 10 days in a family shelter And process you so you can be eventually placed in a permanent government run housing apartment. The people here are overworked underpayed but nice enough for someone who works here for as long as 12 hour shifts. If you need to come here come early no 10 am no 11 no 9 be there as early as possible but 8 should get you in and processed with 10 days in a family shelter.dont lie say only the truths these people are trying to help lying will only get you to have to go into the path again for another 10 days and another lost day. Bring all the documents you can muster hopefully you get accepted if not then keep trying and doing what they ask you to bring. Family shelters are different than your usual shelter. Its pretty much a studio apartment that has beds a table 2 chairs a bathroom and a kitchen with a fridge to cool and keep your meals. Assuming you're going into the path to get processed I suggest you get these few things as a must. Blankets. They will provide sheets but no blankets. The sheets quality is of the lowest you can find so if you have your own the better. The mattress will vary from very basic to terrible. Even in summer bring blankets for padding the beds up trust me you'll thank me later. Next is 7 days worth of clothing per person coming. Including underwear and other essentials. Most family shelters have washing machines in their facilities . When you wash your clothes don't be tempted to leave. Many times I have lost. Clothes stay there and be safe. Clothes will allow you to be still and ready to work while in the shelter. I mention work because shelters have strict rules which will stop you from having anything but the most basic electronics in your apartment. A tv and a pc at most. There is no internet service and you can't get your own aside from overpriced hotspot internet so forget it. Best form of entertainment? Work find a workshop talk to the person in charge . They will point you to some were that you can at least learn something or get your own work. Listen to fire drills don't smoke in your apartment or you'll get reprimanded or kicked out.no drugs . Be safe and good luck . Its a long process but it's worth it if you...
