4DX issue: Always was our go to theater for over 25 years but with high prices the past 2 years, I've been going to less quality places but with similar screens. As of late, came to see 1st showing of Jaws 50th anniversary in limited theaters, and was surprised with a debut of their new 4DX theater on Aug29. It was a great experience. Only thing was during showing, when scene required alot of water; the problem was water droplets landing on the screen itself causing magnification and color/brightness distortion wherever they landed. Then it stays that way throughout the rest of the movie and even into the next. I was sitting in middle of 1st row of main stadium seating. Eventually with time the repetition of the screen staying that way all day everyday and never getting dried off could possibly cause mold or fading damage to the screen. It seems like some nozzles are either facing the screen or the wideness of the spray reaches very close enough to wet screen. I alerted the handlers that day. Today we went to see last show of Toy Story 30th anniversary in 4DX, water is still on the screen. Then as the movie began playing, something seemed off; there was action movement in the movie and we were barely moving. I gave the benefit of the doubt for another 5mins but then it became clear that the motion programming was totally offsync, whether delayed or behind; at times it felt like it was movement from a completely different movie. Action in the movie and we were still or barely moving. Stillness in the movie and we were like in a safari ride. There was wind while the movie showed character's indoors. At one point while woody & buzz spoke in complete stillness indoors in sids room, water sprinkled but not when you'd expect as woody plunges his head in sids cereal bowl with milk. The fight, the pizza plantet drive and pizza planet, no movement. Even Buzzes falling with style and fall down the stairs... nothing, completely still. Anyway about 10min into the movie it was very disappointing and distracting. I went to make them aware of the problem. The man I told called someone on walkie, I guess to get a second opinion of experience. They came in seconds after I returned to my seat. They sat in the seats on the main walkway to feel for themselves maybe for about 20mins. It was obvious the movement was not the movie's. One of them left before the other. I guess they made note of it. We had to watch the entire movie that way, it was awkward and at times very bizarre. It's a shame because its a 30 year anniversary classic, only out for a week at regal knapp, we could only make the last show. We are 3 generations that watched, would've been 4 but my son works weekdays, so we took my grandson. Anyway I know things can go wrong unexpectedly at anytime and Im giving the benefit of the doubt that being this 4DX theater is only 3 wks in, things will be perfected very quickly so this format won't fail altogether. For the price amount being charged, there needs to be some type of system confirming test or something. Even if they need to have large gaps between showings to leave room for any unexpected mishaps and for any corrections that may need to be expedited on the spot. Im just throwing possible ideas out there. But really, somethings got to be done to avoid disappointing the customers who pay high prices for quality only to have them view the entire 4DX movie with zero sync. And if it gets off sync and cant correct in real time, might as well turn off 4DX movements and watch as regular 2D but then with water still on screen and of course there should always be the option for refund. Other than all this, the theater itself is very nice and kept clean, doesn't look worn, employees are neat, professional and well mannered which tells me that management keeps high standards in this theater establishment. Please correct these issues, I would like to have my family, friends & I enjoy this format in the future so i can give 5 stars. Its a plus that its closer to home as opposed to traveling...
Read moreIt was a late Friday night, and four friends—Mia, Jake, Lucas, and Sarah—decided to catch a late showing of Minecraft, the new animated film that had been getting surprisingly good reviews. They arrived at Regal Cinema, excited for the night ahead.
The lobby buzzed with chatter, but their focus was on the sleek, newly renovated theater. The promise of comfy reclining chairs with tables had them all eagerly picking their seats. They each settled into the plush chairs, pressing buttons to adjust the recline and stretch out their legs. Sarah was particularly thrilled, already placing her popcorn on the fold-out table in front of her.
"This is perfect. I could sleep here and still enjoy the movie," she said, sinking into the chair.
The lights dimmed, and the movie began. It was a strange mix of goofy humor, Minecraft-inspired landscapes, and silly adventures. Mia couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdities on screen—characters running around in square heads and blocks floating mid-air like they were in a world made entirely of Legos.
Jake chuckled. "Who knew Minecraft could be this funny?"
But it wasn’t long before Lucas, who had worked a long shift that day, started to nod off. His eyes fluttered, and within minutes, he was out cold, his head slowly leaning to the side, gently resting on the armrest. Sarah noticed first and whispered to Mia, "He's out like a light."
The rest of the movie was filled with occasional bursts of laughter from the group, but Lucas remained deep in his slumber, completely oblivious to the hilarity unfolding on screen. At one point, the characters were building a ridiculous tower out of blocks, and the entire theater erupted in laughter. Sarah looked over at Lucas, half-expecting him to snore, but he was dead silent, his snooze uninterrupted.
As the credits rolled, the theater lights flickered back on. The four friends stretched and groggily got to their feet, with Lucas still sound asleep. Mia gently nudged him. "Lucas... the movie's over. Wake up."
He stirred, blinked a few times, and then blinked again. "Wait, what happened? Did the creeper explode?" he asked, clearly lost in the dream-like haze of sleep.
Jake smirked. "No, buddy. The creeper exploded—right in your dreams."
They all laughed, and as they walked out of the theater, Lucas was still a little dazed, the comfy chairs and late hour clearly having gotten the better of him.
"Best movie trip ever," Sarah said, smiling at the memory of the night. Even with one of them asleep, it had turned into one of those perfectly cozy, unexpected nights that would be talked about for...
Read moreOverall a really good local theater, with great RPX and IMAX screens. the standard screens and seating feels a bit neglected, sometimes resulting in chairs that aren't cleaned properly (or are in disrepair!) but to their credit, when flagged, on repeated visits the issue was resolved.
They actually also show a lot of specialty showings as well, like anime movies, or plays, which surprised me. normally I'd have to travel closer to Manhattan for that.
Their digital ordering experience is a very limited selection compared to lining up at the stand-- which is strange, considering they are already only serving a limited selection of food. supporting digital ordering of their already limited selection could expedite the queues that form which takes up the lobby, and allows patrons to wait in their seats.
The biggest slight I can call out though, is that their is a bit of a teenager problem in earlier showings. Lots of kids showing up being rowdy in the seats, and no enforcement or removal. And when coming to attempt to find someone to deal with the situation, no resolution was had.
I don't expect a world class experience this far out in south Brooklyn, but at the least, make sure the experience is enjoyable for all patrons with rules enforcement. Fix this, and I could strongly recommend this location to most folks in the area.
A major amenity of this location is the absolutely massive free parking lot. If you drive, this is a great location to go to and know you have a spot for your vehicle. Though, to be safe I usually park near the main building as the surrounding area is not particularly well...
