Spice Professors — Attraction in New York

Fixed my shipping issue with above and beyond customer service!

I ordered from Spice Professors for my mom's birthday present. She loves their spices and had recently used up her Chinese five spice and lemon pepper. I ordered at the beginning of Dec. 2020. Unfortunately my package got lost in shipping (It was an issue for sellers all over the country). I reached out to the company and had very prompt responses from Michael. He was helpful, contacted the shipping company and confirmed it was on it's way but delayed. A week later still no package and I had to leave town to get to my parents house.

After the holidays, Michael reached out to me to inquire if the package arrived (so proactive! I really appreciated that he followed up) When I said it had not and asked if a new shipment could be sent directly to my mother, he agreed and my mom received her new package within a week.

She was so excited to get her new spices and I am very impressed with the level of customer service provided by Michael and the Spice Professors during a stressful holiday season. He went above and beyond to solve a problem he didnt cause or have any control of. I will definitely order from Spice...

At a street fair in Park Slope, I had an interaction with one of the vendors. As I was walking by, an employee complimented me and invited me to try the spices or take a look at their products. We had a brief conversation, during which I explained that I don’t drink tea but might come back later to take another look.

As I walked away, the employee spoke in Russian, telling me to “go ** myself.” Fortunately, I was with friends who are fluent in Russian and immediately understood what was said. As they stood up for me, I asked why the employee would say something so offensive. Do they say that to every customer who doesn’t make a purchase?

I was the only brown-skinned individual among my friends—was that why I was singled out and treated this way? When I confronted the employee, he claimed he had been speaking with the owner. Despite the owner being present, there was no apology from the employee, nor any acknowledgment of the comment.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I’ve never been treated this way. I’ve never felt so hurt and disrespected, especially in my own community. I may never know why I was treated like this, but behavior this malicious and disrespectful has no...

They carry a diverse selection of teas and spices. As their name Spice Professors implies, they are very knowledgeable and ready to help you if you have any questions or need recommendations. They have pop ups throughout the year, catch them when you can. I’d like to make a big shout out to Eddie who is an incredibly kind and an honest person who came to save my day. I purchased harissa, indian masala and fiery jamaican spice mixes from a street fair held on 51st and 7th avenue and they all smell amazing 💯I feel very fortunate to have come across them and they definitely helped me step out of my culinary comfort zone and venture out to trying different spices.
