This is my neighborhood supermarket. I frequently go here. They have some amazing employees there like Deidre and Lisa but walking in recently not including the two I've named, employees are not properly wearing their masks. This starts with the general manager. I don't know his name but he's a tall man. I walked into the store and his mask is only covering his mouth. I say to him, "if it isn't your nose then you're not protecting us or yourself. He kind of shrugs me off and continues with his conversation. Later, I see the assistant manager doing the same exact thing. I'm not surprised though because it starts at the top. If the "leader" does it then everyone else feels it's okay. I said to her, is everyone just not wearing their masks in here and she sarcastically says, "I know right" and keeps on moving. I spot the manager when I'm online and then he makes eye contact with me from a distance and pulls his mask over his nose. I'd rather go to Foodtown on Bell Blvd where everyone wears a mask and don't have to be reminded to do so and aren't flippant when brought to...
Read moreI remember this place used to be Waldbaums, oh how the neighborhood changed. This supermarket is FANTASTIC!!! Aside from it looking like an aircraft hangar (maybe it is?), this place is a hit or miss, in a good way. There is SO MUCH STUFF to find and with every visit, there is always something new on the shelves. Sometimes an out of stock item makes you come back again and again just to see if it's back on the shelves. You have your typical stocked groceries, commercial food brands and staples. Then you have a wicked drink selection from your name brand sodas all the way to your craft beers. And then, baked breads and lastly their cold cuts.
You can literally find everything you need here. In terms of variety and prices, I would choose The Food Emporium over Whole Foods any day, and I mean that. It is conveniently close to where I live and it is situated along the Long Island Expressway. You also have the Q26 & Q76 stops nearby, so after a hard day at work, you stop by here and do...
Read moreNice selection, average pricing. Employees can be all over the board. The younger workers are nice and polite, the older ones tend to be unpleasant, sometimes I see them yelling at older people who want to exchange bottle return coupons, and these old people can’t really speak English or anything. One of them started snapping at me because they assumed I had those coupons I wanted to return. Presumably because I’m asian and they assumed I don’t speak English, but when I started speaking English to her and she realized I was buying normal groceries she went pale as a ghost lol. First off, even if I was exchanging bottle return coupons I shouldn’t have been treated that way. If I’m going to be honest it’s common to see employees from here mistreating old people who come to exchange bottles, and it’s sad to watch because I’m sure those employees know that these people don’t have the means...
