This place can benefit from more seats inside for sure. LOVED the efficiency of the ice cream makers behind the counter, keeping a constant smile on and greeting my friend and I warmly. My favorite woman was this really friendly and prevented this overall experience from being "meh" to downright unsalvageable. She was African American and very kind and patient as my friend and I tasted our ways to the flavors we ultimately wanted. I mean, we tried 2-3 flavors not even the whole damn place, just to clarify. Ice cream scooping is a hard job and incredibly taxing in the hands and wrists. Trust me, I worked at one before my current career!
This one other person working, and I wish I remembered how he looked other than being a pale and moderate height Hispanic gentleman, observing my friend and I didn't like our taste testing too much I assume? Because he started to appear irritated, told me someone else would finish helping me, and walked off to the next guest in line. My friend looked at me, then him, and shrugged, noticing the tension. Upon walking out with our respectful ice cream cones, my friend acknowledged I was treated rudely and said I didn't deserve that. I should've caught his name because I wouldn't want anyone else to have this experience for themselves in the future. It wasn't necessary and I can understand he was frustrated I didn't know what flavor I wanted initially, to the extent my friend ended up buying the first choice I made while I made a different order of a new flavor for the Hispanic gentleman. Maybe I confused him or disrupted his sense of routine, but he needs to understand people are allowed to change their minds and this is the food industry. You can't control or cater orders to your way of methods every single time. Hopefully, he gets to stay long enough at Venchi to learn that.
Still really fantastic flavors and the quality here stands above the rest in any other chain gelato contenders in the area. I will continue to attend other locations as long as I never have to deal with that man again. On the other hand, the lady, that I happened to catch a picture of while scooping my ice cream, and taking care of me instead, was very lovely, sweet, and...
Read moreConsider stopping by if you're in the area. Not only it's a great place to have ice cream, but you can try the chocolate before buying it! Just ask anyone working around and they'll be happy to help you out. We stopped here just by chance, we saw it from afar and decided to go in because it looked interesting, also we wanted to see what the long line was about. As we walked in we realized that people were waiting in line for ice cream! How good could it be to wait in such a looong line? As I was ready to walked out I turned my head to the right and saw a wall filled with chocolates from different countries and infinite flavor options. The person working there walked by and let us try some of the options they had, after a few I decided to grab a bag and fill it with some chocolates based on the packaging and the description. I have to be honest, the chocolate was crazy good so I can only imagine how good the ice cream was. I liked it so much that when I traveled back to Miami and found out there was a Venchi there, I went back to grab more chocolates to bring home! My boyfriend is not a sweets lover but once in a while I can see him sneaking a chocolate out of the bag. I'm honestly glad we stopped here! It was such a good experience and I hope I have the chance to get some chocolates from...
Read moreAn array of chocolates and delicious looking gelatos are sold at Venchi. I am partial to the store in Union Square as I can gaze at the chocolate waterfall while savoring each spoonful of gelato. Recently I had signed up for the loyalty program and became a V-Club member. So it was a pleasant surprise to receive an email asking me to drop in to have a free cone. This was to try the new Laudemio Olive Oil Gelato in a cone. Free? I was ready and went last Friday. Santiago helped me to get a small cone brushed inside with an olive oil chocolate spread. Then I was given a a choice of either pistachio or hazelnut but I like the cremino and got that. On top of that cone, the special olive oil gelato was balanced and topped with a dark chocolate disc. I was in seventh heaven with each lick. This was truly luscious and the chocolate spread inside had pooled into the bottom of the cone making it more like a melted chocolate biscuit as a last bite. Whenever I go I get a small cone with one flavor as it’s affordable. I often think but have never got one with the works but one day I will splurge. It certainly pays to join the V-Club. After all who know what’s in treat for...
