As an ambassador member of Marriott, here’s the worst hotel experience of my whole entire life.||I booked previously for the New York Edition, which I thought it’s always high standard (I was in Shanghai and also Barcelona edition). However with my reservation number 843005xx, it was prepaid, and I never thought it would be any issue.||However when I checked in, the front desk is absolutely rude and unwelcome:||1) we were first trying to check in, with a tall guy with shirt only and no suit. I told him my reservation number, gave him our passports, still, we stood there for a long time while he was only searching my husbands last name, even I mentioned a few times it’s the booking under my membership and name.||2) later I requested for a suite if there’s any available. Then the very short hair took over and started telling me the whole concept of upgrade. She was super loud, and rude at the check in lobby, like yelling at my face for almost 10 mins. I do not want to discuss with her and simply said, I’m ambassador status and of course I know.||She said, “every one here is also ambassador status and I don’t have suites for everyone. Actually I could, he could, all of us could give u a suite but I DONT WANT TO.”||3) I fell absolutely rude and impolite of her attitude, other customers in the lobby are all shocked about her behaviour. Therefore I requested to talk to the manager. After waiting for another 20 mins, they got him on the phone for me over the front desk. (Someone said he gotta be upstairs the whole time to talk to the phone)||4) at that time, that short hair woman is yelling at another “try to check in customer” again. The manager JUSTIN MRWIK (director of front desk), could even hear she was yelling again to another customer.||5) I fell TERRIBLE for every second to be there. I requested to have refund back because my tears almost came out. Why would we be yelled at the hotel? It’s not a cheap hotel! It’s min 750€/night. I requested the refund and the JUSTIN said he would need to charge me for one night and would try to refund me only. Then he CUT my line. What is that attitude?!!!||6) we cannot accept since the reception starts yelling at me then also the manager attitude. I totally understand if the room can be upgraded or not which is based on availability but cannot tell me “actually I am but I won’t”.||The whole atmosphere is terrible and also they overused the unique fragrance of Edition. I fell like I was entering a public toilet. Couldn’t stand the smell.||Next day, got the email from the hotel, said it’s a „non refundable“ rate and no refund. Basically it’s saying „u are not happy but u gotta pay even u didn’t check in“. ||Glad that I got my ambassador assistant helped me out on this and get my money back. ||Check the video from the hotel lobby and front desk and verify the behaviour of your staff. The worst ever in the world. Please double check if the staffs there are professional enough to...
Read moreBackground:|As seasoned New Yorkers who've called downtown home for over a decade, we decided it was time for a staycation in a different Manhattan neighborhood. Our quest led us to the NoMad / Flatiron area, where the Edition caught our eye with its surprisingly reasonable rates compared to its high-end Bonvoy counterparts. Skeptical, we delved into Tripadvisor reviews, only to find a mix of recent opinions. Despite this, fond memories of a positive experience at the Miami Edition nudged us to give the New York Edition a try--albeit with managed expectations.||Experience:|We arrived at the Edition around 6 pm on a serene Saturday evening, devoid of the usual weekday office hustle. Stepping into the hotel, we were greeted by the Edition's signature scent, moody lighting, high ceilings, and a chic blend of white furniture and dark wood elements.||At the front desk, we met Eric, whose charm and warmth instantly put us at ease. Before we even handed over my driver's license, a manager emerged from the back office with a bag of Edition doggie treats for our 13 year old Shih Tzu. "I saw you come in with your dog on the cameras and thought she'd enjoy these," she said. Well, Edition, you now have our full attention!||Eric breezed through our check-in, offering extra water and a dog bed, though we were content to head straight to our room. Upon opening the door, we were delighted to find a spacious, beautifully designed room with all the signature Edition touches. However, there was a minor hiccup: the windows were partially obscured by the building's historical facade. Not a deal-breaker, but my partner suggested we try for a different room with better views.||We sheepishly returned to Eric, expecting a quick denial. Instead, Eric called over his colleague Eli, and together they found us a new room. A few minutes later, Eli assured us, "You'll be happy with this room!" He escorted us back to our original room to grab our luggage before showing us to our new room. Eli was right--the new room boasted jaw-dropping views over Madison Square Park and the Flatiron Building.||From there, it was all smooth sailing. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll through Madison Square Park and dined at one of our favorite nearby restaurants. After dinner, we were eager to return to our room and relax. We ran into Eli again in the lobby and thanked him for his help earlier. Not letting us leave empty-handed, he gifted us an Edition candle as a memento. It's these small touches from caring staff that make all the difference!||Back in our room, we settled into bed, gazing out at the night sky and admiring the classic vaulted ceiling. The comfortable bedding made it feel like a true home away from home.||A heartfelt thank you to Eli, Eric, and the entire Edition staff for making our stay so memorable. We'll...
Read moreFirst of all, big shout out to Eli, Tina, Chanela, and Ender.||For those of you deciding between the Ritz Carlton and the Edition I can shed some light. I’ve stayed at the Ritz NoMad three times and the Edition probably about eight. And I’ve stayed at nearly every other requisite nice hotel in NY’s Marriott portfolio.||But I kind of compare these Ritz and Edition because they’re very close to each other in what I consider the city’s best neighborhood (flatiron) for tourists. I’m always here for business and the proximity to midtown is great, but I can easily go to SoHo or Greenwich Village with similar ease.||There’s no doubt the new Ritz NoMad is a great hotel — great materials, F&B, roof bar, and views. The flower theme of the hotel is great. However, you can enjoy a lot of that and stay elsewhere. I’ve recently stayed at the Ritz Sarasota, Marina Del Rey, and Los Angeles and was accommodated well at those. However, this isn’t a post to rag on that hotel — it’s plenty nice if you can afford it.||However, I prefer the location of the Edition, being on the park is awesome — especially if you travel with a dog. Madison Park has an AWESOME dog park and having that right outside the door is awesome.||It’s a historic and charming building, so the only downside is that some of the rooms can be more limited, but that’s a small subset of them and the only real downside. Otherwise, it’s an incredibly charming building and I think the bar on the ground level and second floor have amazing character and they have a top notch bar program at each. I love that there is a pool table at the second floor bar and the wood paneling evokes a bygone era.||Of course the hotel is adorned with the Edition’s minimalist and sleek design and, like others, blends that feeling with comfort. The views of the park are magnificent, as is the proximity to transit.||However, I really feel what’s most important is that the staff here goes above and beyond. At other top flight hotels I often feel like just a number, but I’m always treated here with surprise amenities, a staff that doesn’t forget requests, and I generally feel everyone is really friendly.||We try not to be too demanding, but sometimes you just feel some hotel teams look for reasons to say no instead of yes. We keep coming back here because that’s not our experience at the Edition. I’ve come here before and had rooms with AC issues or other late night engineering problems and they have always been on their feet and accommodated us.||At our recent stay the aforementioned team (Eli, Tina, Chanela, Ender) all made themselves really helpful to us and remembered us throughout the stay. I was really impressed and appreciative. The Edition will continue to be one of our first choices...
