TITANIQUE - a chest thumping, Celine loving, comedic gem December '23 The cast was great. Each actor carried off their role expertly, and "Celine" as the headliner was perfect - the tour conductor aka Tina Turner aka Tyra Banks - chef's kiss. Comedic timing on point all the way around. Energy and enthusiasm of the production rubbed off on the audience. Off broadway production with under 300 seats. Sound quality and acoustics were very good. Row F center allowed us to see the action on stage and follow the characters when they performed along the runway that was behind the first few rows. Great spot. The rows go up to R but for us a lot of extra laughs came from the facial expressions so the back rows wouldn't have been the best for us: (Maury is that an eggplant she's holding???) Set design was limited but more than enough as the characters and script were so good. Even the live 3 piece band was included in the play and the electric guitar was a great solo surprise. Lots of nice restaurants closeby for a pre theatre dinner. Come early if you have to have drinks/snacks at the theatre- the line up was 30 ppl long with 5 minutes before the curtain.
Do you have to be familiar with the movie Titanic? Noooo Do you have to be familiar with Celine's songs/persona? Noooo Would you enjoy it so much more if you did? Yassss! Why else would you laugh every time they called out to Victor Garber? or crack up when they split a Little Tykes car in half for a love scene?
Btw phones and photos are allowed for a couple of minutes at the end for social media posting so that's always something the audience appreciates.
The true test of its laugh-o-metre is that my 29 year old friend said "I have to come back with the guys - it's hilarious!" They've never said that about any Broadway or Off-Broadway show...

Titanique was really funny, even though a lot of the jokes probably went over my head—I wasn’t really into the original Titanic film and never even saw it when it was in theaters back in ’97 (even though it was literally playing across the street!). That said, this version is tailor-made for the gay palette, and I absolutely loved the energy, talent, and humor the cast brought to the stage.
We happened to go on the last night for the current Celine Dion and one of the male cast members—what a send-off! The singing and performances were phenomenal. The theater itself is quaint, and even though we were just two rows from the back, the view was still great. That said, I do regret not splurging on front-row seats—it looked so much more engaging up close, and it would’ve totally been worth it.
Would I go again? Absolutely. I feel like I missed a lot of the clever references, and I know each show has its own flair, especially the improv parts.
A few practical notes: there’s a bar, a Titanique step-and-repeat for pics, and restrooms downstairs—but be warned, there’s no intermission, so plan ahead. Either skip the pre-show drinks or come prepared with a strong bladder!
Staff were super friendly, and the whole experience was a blast. Definitely recommend it—even if you’re not a Titanic fan but probably better if you are a Titanic fan or...
Read moreThanks to strong word of mouth, such as from our friend Mia Patunas Rubin, and a passionate social media following, this musical is a loving parody of the epic movie Titanic. Titanique, in French, retells the story from Céline Dion’s perspective and through her eyes and music. Experiencing off-Broadway week as first-timers, my partner and I came to the Daryl Roth Theatre located on 15th Street in Union Square. Upon entering, the interior is perfectly sized and intimate, with great views of the stage, and the acoustics are good. There were steps up to the theater and down two levels to the bar and restrooms. We were in orchestra row L, and our seats were manageable. Nicole Parker, who played Céline, was on Mad TV, and Elphaba in Wicked was so hilarious. The vocal talent of the cast was simply amazing, especially Anne Fraser Thomas, who played Molly. It’s quite witty, entertaining, and amusing, and we had a blast! If you’re a fan of either Céline or Titanic—or both—there’s nothing to stop you from having a great night out at Titanique, which we...
