The playground needs an actual slide.
The park has a serious rat and mosquito issue.
The bathroom needs a renovation badly. The lights are usually out, the bathroom is filled with mosquitos, the bathroom is pretty dark and creepy regardless of the window and door being open.
The park staff is never friendly. They all usually appear very miserable. One time I entered the park with my partner and toddler and we thought it would be perfect because no one else was there at the time. We had just arrived and my toddler quickly wanted to go to the swing section. A minute or two later two female park staff members come in the park, and were cursing and looking around for people to blame. Apparently, they were both really upset that the park had some garbage near the bathroom area that had been there for god knows how long. Both ladies made it a very uncomfortable experience, as they were walking around the park like 2 bullies cursing really loud, expressing how upset they were that they had to clean the park. I understood their frustration because it could be an ongoing thing, however, as an adult you should be able to personally take a few deep breaths re-evaluate yourself and your life.
Some jobs really should require consistent mental health check ups and screenings-especially when working with the community.
There's been quite a few times that I've literally encountered some parents/care givers that I have never seen or met before that literally enter the park, come by and say hello. However, they leave their kids unattended and go to the basketball court section for long periods of time. I love children, but I am no nanny! Especially not an unpaid nanny, lol. So whenever that happens, me and mine go to another playground. I understand I may look harmless, however, you still should never trust ANYONE with your child or someone else's. I sure don't.
This is not my go-to park. However, it is the closest one to me, and nevertheless it is better...
Read moreOk so I have mixed feelings about this park. It’s kept clean by the staff. The staff are always friendly. The design is a little odd the slide is one that u have to flip ur legs over to slide NOT a sliding pond which seriously looks dangerous. We do have sprinklers and swings which is very nice. Issues come in when the teenagers gather and their teenagers so of course they’re unsupervised and hormones raging and always arguing and fighting doesn’t matter to them little kids r around. So a major problem are the rats! Like most of the city during COVID the rats took over. In the spring and summer the rats take over especially after 4 pm. Omg you can’t sit on the benches the kids play and the rats run onto the cushioned play area jump out of the garbage cans it’s scary! Remember up too I said the staff keep it clean so it’s not their fault. We do not have any rat bait or traps not 1 I’ve asked and we call 311 and nothing. While the shrubs are low we hope they come and put stuff down but common sense may not exist or maybe it’s our location who knows. Do better Parks Dept get the rats out of the playground!
*UPDATE: issues are all still the same. Can we at least get some rat bait. What’s wrong with the Parks Dept.? We have a serious rat issue in this park! They are all over the playground...
Read moreIf you are looking for a semi-fun park for your child who is in the age group of 5 to 10 (maybe 12) this will be the one for you. Once a spacious, open and welcoming park this has now become an uncomfortably crowded area where kids cannot run freely through and through. The swings were moved to the other side of the park and trees added where the swings used to be. Nothing wrong with trees however seems the only place the playground equipment could be placed was in the middle of the park, making for little room to really stretch out. Sprinkler accommodations are more fun than before. However the appearance and lack of space for the many children in the neighborhood was less than impressive, in my opinion, and the use of park land seems to have fallen short of serving...
