How did the hotel pass the requirements for being allowed to be listed as a 3-star hotel is beyond me. The walls are hollow, the heating system is outdated, evident thru the constant noise throughout the night. It is almost inconceivable for this place to be worth more than $80-$100 an evening. I had the generosity from family to get a new hotel at a further distance in order to ensure myself that I would have a restful sleep. If you haven't heard complaints as I too am shocked by the lack of complaints, then it must simply be the "stress" of taking a BAR exam. The students I was with complained, but they had no choice but to deal with it. No one in their right mind would raise a complaint when the BAR exam is in session. I simply got up and left the premise because there is no time to address these things when the pressure is on. There are NO REVIEWS by a single bar student here and this is considered the go-to spot for test takers. I will admit that I am puzzled by it. As a fellow bar student in the hotel shared with me, "I listened to a guy in the next room listen to a foreign film and I'm pretty sure it was at a bare minimum in volume" says it all. Why don't they complain is out of my reach, but DO NOT create the image that because there is only one BAR student complaining that no other BAR student agrees with. That is called generalization.
P.S. BAR Takers, do not come here for the BAR exam, you won't get any sleep the night of. Horrendous experience for this particular occasion. It is shameful for them to charge 5-star hotel prices at ONLY two periods of the year, February & July, coincidentally during the bar exam. I was willing to bite that bullet because I wanted the walking distance luxury. Unfortunately, I had to forgo that, which in the end didn't turn out to...
Read moreI wanted to give this a much higher rating. We were very pleased on arrival but there was one fatal flaw. I am not a light sleeper however the people who said the walls are thin were not lying. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, not in nyc so maybe this is a thing, but you could hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you. People talking at a normal volume, sounded like they were right outside an open window. Unfortunately our neighbors were having adult relations literally all night until 4:30am. This may have ruined our trip because we were just here for one night to go to the zoo today and don't want to feel like we got the worst night sleep of our lives. Also there wasn't a good way to control the rooms temperature. There ARE many positive things, they just don't outweigh the noise. If you generally sleep with ear plugs here's what we loved. CLEAN, amazing view, small if you're a really big person could be uncomfortable. But nice TV, you could open the window a few inches. Bathroom seems very updated. The front desk was nice service. There's a little kurig and they leave two mini water bottles. Lots of outlets on both side of the bed. Little adjustable reading lights on each side of the bed. Love a hotel without carpet always feels cleaner. The bedding was a nice weight not too hot. There is a hair dryer and a mini ironing board. They do not offer valet parking but they do have a parking garage they seem to partner with it was two streets over, a quick walk back to the hotel. Breakfast is a voucher to a bagel place. I don't think I could stay here again unfortunately. It was. Wednesday night too, not like a...
Read moreI'm a young professional who visited CUMC-NYP for a couple of weeks and I spent my stay at the Edge Hotel. I will divide this review into different points, from best to less pleasing aspects.
The highlight is definitely the friendliness and kindness of the staff. Every single receptionist was ready to address issues with a big smile and sweet attitude. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at home. Ms. Nelia Rodriguez, sales manager, was the most kind-hearted woman I met, and even tho she was busy beyond imaginable, she made sure I had everything I need. Since my stay was a long one, they made sure to bring a little fridge up to my room. I also saw them accommodating needs of patients visiting NYP. Special thanks to Nelia, Jacob, Micheal and Diana (you guys are amazing and made my stay perfect!)
Very close to NYP-CUMC, a few mins walk!
The little gym is quite nice. Super clean at all times!
4.You're guaranteed a nice view of NYC from your window!
Now, less pleasing aspects:
The room is small. It's a very very cozy basic room with a small desk and small closet. don't expect space.
The breakfast is basic. Don't expect fancy food or a huge variety. Nothing special, nothing extra, just what you need.
The price. I know this is NYC and space is expensive. But for the space of the room and space of entire hotel (very tiny) and the breakfast offered, it shouldn't be as expensive as that in my opinion.
That's a long review, but I wanted to get as much details as possible for...
