Utterly disgusting experience. Avoid Fremont CDJR if you expect basic professionalism, decency, or to be treated like a human being — especially if you're inquiring about a used vehicle and don’t fit whatever profile they’ve decided is “worthy.”
I reached out during the week via online inquiry regarding a used 2022 Jaguar F-Type R that had been sitting on their lot for weeks. Communication was initially smooth with Cintia, who confirmed the car was available for a test drive and scheduled me for 4 PM on Saturday.
When my wife and I arrived, things went downhill immediately.
The car was parked front and center. We told a staff member about our appointment, and he promptly told us the car was not available for a test drive due to its "high value." He then went inside to get our salesperson, Bunny, as Cintia was apparently unavailable.
Then came the most absurd interaction I’ve had in 15+ years of car buying and collecting.
Bunny approached and claimed — with a straight face — that there were only two of these cars in the entire U.S., citing “manager intel.” First of all, this is a mass-produced vehicle, not a limited-run hypercar. Yes, it’s discontinued after 2024. Yes, I know exactly how many are for sale in the country right now, because I actually do my research — we even own the pre-facelift F-Type R, which we drove to the lot.
My wife asked if maybe the reason for denying the test drive was the spec — the matte white finish and red rag top. Bunny responded by dismissively telling her: “It’s okay if you don’t understand.” At that point, my wife was ready to walk. But I decided to give this unprofessional circus one last shot.
I politely showed Bunny my email exchange with Cintia confirming the test drive. His response? They don’t allow test drives because they don’t want to “pile mileage” on the car and upset a supposed collector from LA who “might” fly in Sunday to see it.
Let’s break this down:
So you're telling me a 5-mile test drive on a 21,000-mile car is going to destroy its value? It’s a $70K used Jaguar, not a McLaren. This excuse is pure nonsense — and transparent. You just didn’t think we were serious buyers.
There was no hold or deposit on the car. The so-called collector clearly wasn’t locked in. Meanwhile, I had a scheduled test drive — which turned out to be a complete waste of my time.
I literally arrived in a 2017 F-Type R. Any salesperson with half a brain should recognize that I’m looking to upgrade — not waste time joyriding.
And here's the cherry on top — the price on the car window was $10,000 higher than the online listed price ($77,000 instead of the $67,000, but at this point I saw no point wasting my time on the pricing). So not only were they shady and rude — they were also trying to pull a fast one on the price.
Only after I mentioned I could purchase the car outright with cash did Bunny suddenly shift tone and say we could "run the numbers" first and then maybe test drive. Complete and utter bullcrap.
This was nothing short of profiling and unprofessionalism. The whole experience screamed arrogance, disrespect, and incompetence. Save yourself the trouble — go to a dealership that doesn’t insult your intelligence or waste...
Read moreAfter being almost pushed into a sketchy deal at the Pleasanton dealership, we decided to do some homework of our own before committing to the deal. I randomly stumbled across DGDG CDJR dealership in Fremont. I was greeted by Quentin as I browsed the lot. Quentin noticed me eyeing the “used” Jeep Wrangler and was immediately prepared to share his knowledge of the different models, trim levels and features. I explained to him that I was interested in a “used” Sahara which there were at least 3-4 options on the lot. We sat in all three, got to know the features and then I explained that we were just looking for information and I had an appointment else where. Quite humbly, Quentin let us know that he understood our position and would be available to answer any questions we have if and when we return. Nothing about his interaction felt pushy, sneaky, self serving or aggressive. You could tell he was happy to share his information, not pressed to sell us a car or pressuring us not to leave the lot.
After my appointment, I felt so good about the service I had just received, we decided to go back to DGDG just to see if they could beat the shady deal that was being offered at the other dealership. Let me explain further: I was NOT actually looking to buy a car. I was at the dealership to service my current vehicle and while I waited, I walked the lot. I was approached by a salesman that saw me eyeing the “new” Jeep Wrangler. I explained I was NOT looking to buy a car - just killing time. The salesman understood my position, however, he was getting pressure from his upper management to make a deal. Long story short, we ended up negotiating for 5 hours the price of a car that I HAD NO INTENTIONS of buying. They would not let me leave the lot and every time I tried to leave the payment got lower and lower. I never actually saw a sticker price or MSRP so I wasn’t sure how they could make this “magically” happen. I will say, we did like the car a lot, but something about the dealership and the deal was shady.
Fast forward to DGDG and Quentin: we went back to Quentin and reluctantly explained the situation we were in. Quentin did not have the exact car on the lot that we were originally negotiating, but he worked with his management team (Shak) and counterparts (Anthony and John) and found us a BETTER car for a better deal through a dealer trade, which we later learned is a pretty cut throat process - shout out to Shak the MVP and his stellar negotiating skills.
Original specs: 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara in Silver Billet with SkyOne Touch. DGDG specs: 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xE in Stingray with SkyOneTouch.
Needless to say, we received a better car, better interests rate, better and transparent MSRP, smoother process and excellent customer service. The team treated us like family! Anthony (separate sales associate) even gave us his personal electricians phone number to help us install a charging port in our garage!
I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I would highly recommend them for anyone searching to buy a new or...
Read moreI am giving a three star rating based on my encounter in the sales office today 8/6/18. I went there and asked for a new brochure showing the items covered on my Premium Extended Care Warranty, as I had misplaced mine. Everyone I met along the way was very friendly, welcoming and helpful, i.e. the three stars. That is until the gentleman who was helping me asked a colleague, Mike Hill, if he would be able to help me secure a copy as Mike had previously worked at Dublin Toyota where I had purchased my Town & Country Van. For some unknown reason (I had not had any exchange with Mike, verbal or otherwise) Mike was snickering and rather than simply say I needed to go to Toyota for the brochure he chose to speak to me directly from his desk across the showroom and was snarky and sarcastic because I didn't realize I needed to go to Toyota for this item even though Chrysler handles all of the servicing of my van at this dealership. He pointed up into the air and said, "Do you see Toyota written anywhere? On the out side of this building?" (that's why there aren't 5 stars) I told him he was being snotty and he said, "Well I can play too.".. I didn't know what that meant as I had only asked the first gentleman (not Mike) for a brochure. WOW!! I said the to receptionist, "Now I know why the verbal reputation of this dealership is so negative. I have just experienced why." I left, went to Toyota and had the brochure in my hand within five minutes. I returned to Chrysler and asked for Mike's business card. The receptionist said the individuals had their own. He said he wouldn't give it to me but he would write his name down, which didn't make much sense. He then told me that he remembered me from Dublin Toyota and that I was mean to him there. He then refused to give me his name and crumpled up the paper he was writing it on. I question that as there isn't anything about me that stands out to remember me by, I dealt with a different salesman and have no recollection of Mike at all or a run in with anyone during my transaction. I was there one day, bought the car and was on my way never to return again. Everything about my experience at Dublin Toyota that day was wonderful and a very happy memory. Mike's behavior is typical of a verbal bully. Make the other person feel intimidated and "less than" with a snide, sarcastic tone and off putting body language. I told him I didn't need his name I would simply describe him. I went to my van and as I was about to start the engine to leave Mike came walking over to my car. He said he didn't have any business cards and gave me his name. He apologized several times. Again, classic bully behavior. As soon as I eluded to contacting someone and describing him he was Mr. Nice. I'm not buying it. I have my third Chrysler van in a row but I would NEVER purchase from Fremont Chrysler if he was...
