The view from street belies the delightful new complex of 3 city buildings....city hall, the police station and the new public library.

The library is worth a visit. Clean, quiet and modern , it is a far cry from the 60 or so year old building that was the old library. The book collection is smaller but the books are in good shape. Plenty of seating and the ceilings are high. There are numerous study areas for other activities.

The plaza outside the building is bright, spacious and quiet. Perhaps the adjacent police station deters bad behavior that you might see in such a setting.

Its too bad they don't have outdoor seating with umbrellas. A small coffee shop or Cafe would be ideal and attract more visitors. Maybe they'll tear down the old library building and build a new community center in its place

Bookstores have sadly disappeared from present day communities. Newark library offers a very nice substitute. Its good to see tax dollars used well ...in this...

We are Newark residents and absolutely love our Newark library. The kids look forward to going there, a good selection of books and a cozy play/reading area for little kids helps build an interest is reading while they are still young. And now the tablets are an added attraction for kids. It's a quaint building with ample natural light and a decent selection of books for adults also.

The staff is ever so helpful and polite. We also love the occasional weekend classes to try out new stuff and story time for kids. The park next to the library is a fun place as well, after some reading and a class, kids can catch up on some outdoor activity, while the parents can take a quick run around the short circular trail.The adjacent police station located in the city hall building drives constant police traffic making it an even safer place for families to frequent.
