I took my mom here for her birthday because she wanted to try the Afghani trout her coworker had highly recommended. When we arrived, we found the staff busy setting up for a large party. One of them asked how he could help, and I mentioned our reservation. Instead of assisting us directly, he pointed us to a bell at the cashier stand to summon a server. The server emerged from the kitchen and told us to choose any table. We picked one that wasn’t set, lacking the tablecloths and utensils shown in the photos, which seemed to be from banquet events. This restaurant, the only Afghan one in Newark/Fremont/Union City offering trout, appears geared more toward large parties and banquets than small groups. While the food was phenomenal, our experience was marred by a 35-minute wait for a bottle of water, which arrived with one of our appetizers. Only one of two appetizers came out initially, so we had to eat separately—my mom watched me eat after she finished hers. The bread, although good, also came out with the appetizers. Despite having a reservation, we were hungry and thirsty for over 30 minutes, even though we were the only diners at the time. The banquet hall is beautiful, and the staff was setting up for a private event starting at 6 p.m. There was no music, adding to the banquet-like atmosphere. The food was very reasonably priced, and the service, while friendly and professional, was notably slow. Next time, we'll likely drive to Dublin for Afghan trout and a more suitable dining experience.

Authentic Afghan food and probably the best in the San Francisco Bay Area by far. A business associate brought us here for dinner and we had the Bolani filled with potatoes & one with Leeks as appetizers. They were not only tasty but most importantly not greasy. For the main entrees we had the Kabuli rice Which is rice with shredded carrots and raisins. I’m not a rice fan so the fact I went for a 3rd portion is incredible in itself. The next entree was a platter of kebabs, Which included the grilled Chicken Tikka. The Beef Kebab (Grilled sirloin) again not something I go for at Afghan/Persian restaurants but, this was so soft I could cut with my fork. The next grilled meat was like a Persian Koobedieh or Kafta kebab but with flavor and not bland. The last meat was a Chapli Kebab which is a flattened beef kebab that was also on the Money. Even the green chutney was not too spicy. I have eaten at Afghan restaurants in London, NYC & the Bay Area and can truly say I have found my new favorite to go for Afghan food.

Fantastic Afghan food! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious — rich in flavor, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with care. Since each dish is made to order, there's a bit of a wait, but it’s well worth it. Portions are generous — we ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal at home. The service was excellent too: warm, attentive, and made the experience even better. If you're in the area and craving something authentic and satisfying, this place is a must!

Disrespectful, rude, worst venue ever. BEWARE!!!!!!! No customer service what so ever from owner. Please use other venues such as Century house, Mirage, Flamingo Palace.

I just want to start by saying that when you book a venue a certain respect for your customer should be given.

That being said here we go: The owner is the most disrespectful person in the world. When I complained about the heat all I got was yelling and that in turn ruined my whole family night.

They turned the heat off, because a door was left open. When I asked why they did this. The response was very idiotic "because you guys keep leaving it open." My response was very clear where does it say that the door needs to be closed. If their is no sign then how is this being enforced.

I had 120 some odd people there and all were being punished because some kids decided to leave out the back once in a while.

My uncle almost passed out from the heat!!!!

When I brought this up he decided to ruin the bride to be's night. He wouldn't talk to me because my name was not on the contract. No problem I was the one paying for the bill at the end of the night but he decided to ruin, once again the bride to be's night!

After a shouting match occurred my mother stepped in and this manager decided to yell at my mother. That did not go over well.

Needless to say the disrespect I felt in this place as well as the danger they put my uncle through will not go unnoticed. BEWARE!!!!!!!!

I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau for some of their actions. I have a video of my uncle stumbling, I have pictures of the said door that had no sign that stated this door should be kept closed, and I have eye witnesses from the groom and brides side of how this man disrespected...

I don’t even know where to begin writing this review. We had absolutely terrible experience with the staff at Afghan Village. We threw a party there yesterday for about 35 people. I had called ahead of time and confirmed the buffet menu, price, date and times with the gentleman on the phone ( Sam) who assured me he will call me back for the final confirmation few days before the event. I never got a call from them. I called a day before the event and the same person ( Sam) apologized that he forgot to call me and starting asking me all the details again like how many people are coming. At this point I was a little worried that they aren’t taking this seriously and I have guests coming. He strictly told me the time will be from 12 - 3 PM, that was the time on my invite too. People arrived at 12:30. I kept asking them to bring the appetizers, which took forever and came out at 1:30 PM. They delayed the lunch by 2 hours! It was ready after 2 PM. The service was SO slow. I was literally standing by the kitchens door asking them how much longer will it take for the food to come out. The server (Mansoor) was laughing about it and kept saying 10 more minutes. The chapli kabab were the size of my fist! So so small! And the server said it’s one per person! I was shocked! They brought few chapli in a tray and would refill it with a few every 20 mins. We had a terrible experience over all. The delay made the party look really bad. The food was fresh and tasty but trust me it was not worth the time and money! Afghan Village is now under new management. They really need to work on their communication skills, delivery and customer service. You can NOT have your customer/guests waiting for hours for the food. Totally...
