This is probably the second or probably third Hinodeya location I’ve been to in the Bay Area…?! And Hinodeya does not fail with their ramen 🍜 honestly. I was rather quite impressed with this location, but became a little critical… but that’s always a foodie’s dream, as always. My friend and I decided to get Hinodeya after calling the restaurant and asking if they could take out bamboo shoots and seaweed (friend’s personal preference), and they were absolutely accommodating. Hence, we went because we knew we were in for an experience. The chicken karaage was honestly a little bit disappointing — to say the least. While the chicken was good, the portion was a little too small. I had wished they could have served a bigger plate, because that for $10 was not really worth it. Then came the ramen. The broth was really rich and honestly I could taste how strong the dashi taste was. The wheat noodles were very spongy and very al dente, which was enough to mix along with the other things in there. Good crunchy garlic side too. The meat was very yummy and so was the spinach… The only thing i would have liked to see was a little bit more soup… it was a little too less and it got saturated by the noodles a little too fast. Now the atmosphere is honestly mid. I honestly would have wished the tables were more spread apart — but it’s such a tight space where I had to be very aware of my surroundings. The location is prime location, just I wish they could have considered putting less chairs instead of so many more chairs. I’ll definitely be coming back to eat here with my other friends — but for the meantime, I’m gonna let this location sit for now, and try the other ones.

Awesome little restaurant. Didn't need a reservation. Went with 3 other friends. Wait-staff was friendly and accommodating. A friend was recovering from a cold and just wanted hot water. They gave us a teapot of hot water. The ramen was delicious. Got the basic Hinodeya Ramen. Broth was seasoned appropriately and tasty, but had less umami and thickness than the other options. Noodles were filling, but not overstuffed. The tonkotsu was soft, flavorful, and tender. The egg was cooked medium and just a little undercooked so it was not runny but also not chalky. Other friends had different ramen dishes and enjoyed theirs. One friend had a level 10 spice who stated that it was very spicy with plenty of heat and flavor. Not the spiciest food ever, but was challenging to finish. This is coming from a guy who eats red chilis and habanero regularly. The place was crowded and the noise was loud enough where a quiet talker could not be heard. Frequently some people had to repeat themselves. The lighting is not overly bright with some soft dimmed lamps with thick shades. Ambiance feels like a small Japanese ramen shop with a small sushi bar. Restroom was clean, well stocked, and had little trays to catch soap drips from the dispenser. Definitely recommended if you're a fan of ramen and especially if you like different varieties. There were 3 or 4 different vegan ramen options in the menu which is a lot higher than expected.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon after multiple people told us about Hinodeya and I can't recommended it enough if you're vegetarian or vegan. We ordered the creamy vegan ramen and the summer special (cold) vegan ramen and both of them were incredible. The creamy vegan ramen is a bit different from the usual shoyu broth and their ratio of veggies to broth was perfect. Special shout-out to the crispy kale - inspired choice :) Ordered this to spice level four (they provide you an equivalent number of red chillies instead of the chili oil or powder) and it was a good level for me. The cold ramen was just what we needed on a hot late summer afternoon - great balance of flavours with the sweet fried tofu (inari?) hewing closer to a traditional ramen, felt more familiar. Got this in spice level three. We also got the bamboo shoots in chili oil and they were delicious. The ambiance is that of an old school ramen house but with a twist that you order by QR (decidedly not old school) and the service was quick and efficient. Can't wait to tell everyone else about this place!

Delicious food, terrible service. I had to stand up and go towards the kitchen to look for my own menu. I had never been here before but I looked around and saw others with menus and wanted to ask a few questions about the digital menu. I waited a bit and nobody took my order or checked in with me, there were a few people inside and I watched others come in afterwards. Everyone who came in received menus and had their orders taken. I had to flag the gentleman down and ask him to take my order. I felt pretty embarrassed and felt as if I didn’t belong there. Every culture should be able to enjoy ramen but I felt they treated me differently. I would have stayed longer and tried other dishes because the food was really good but that was a very uncomfortable experience and I won’t be returning. For a place with good food I would expect their staff to be a bit more inviting, friendly, and at the very least welcoming. That’s very basic restaurant etiquette. Hopefully the owner or manager sees this review and trains the staff better because the food was delicious and the...
