We toured this property on August 2nd, 2025. Chepstow does not have the rock star status of the Breakers or Marble House, but it is every bit worth a visit. Due to its smaller size, and the way it is furnished , it feels comfortable and livable. We enjoyed discovering the history of many of the objects, as well as of the people who lived there. You will find the place just as it was left by the last occupants. The tour is guided, so you'll be shown around by an actual person- no ear buds or paper to follow. You may ask questions along the way, which the guide is happy to answer. We purchased tickets in advance on line, and today I learned that it is not necessary to bring printed copies-you only need to show your emailed version with bar code. We heard all about the ancestors that graced the walls. It was so confusing that by the end of the tour I couldn't remember a thing, nor did I care. The rooms were overstuffed with furniture and looked like a yard sale, or hoarders dream. You really couldn't appreciate the rooms glory. It was overwhelming and more of an art history/artist tour than anything. She kept asking our group if we heard of such n such artist, and then proceeded to tell us the story of the artist on most...
Read moreReally cool place, but not Newport Mansiony at all. You need to get your tickets in advance, and they are really of no help at all in that department. They kept trying to get us to go to the Breakers to book the tour instead of helping us book the tour there. Said it was easier to go the Breakers. I said, "easier for who?" That seemed to quite them down. Hubby ended up figuring it out without their assistance. The tour guide was ok. She had such an arrogant air about her. Answered everyone's questions, though. There is no gift shop at this location. There is a restroom. Grounds are...
