Planet Fitness — Attraction in Newton

Planet Fitness is not a gym that a bodybuilder would think of going to as their first choice for a gym but the PF In Watertown fits the bill for what I need, and I’ve been able to prep for shows by using the equipment here.

The gym has very friendly staff at the front desk who greet you when you come in, are easy to work with if you forget your badge or have any questions.

The place is immaculately kept and most of not all machines are always in full operation, unlike many gyms I’ve been to that charge a LOT more and never seen to fix their equipment.

The locker room is very clean and there are plenty of showers and lockers for everyone (bring a lock, use it for the day but don’t leave it overnight, their policy states this).

What I don’t like is that several things are not working or installed and should be addressed such as the men’s hand dryer and the hooks that hold your towel outside of the showers (little things, but they’ve been this way for a while now) as well as simple things like paper towel dispensers not working or not filled (no reason for it) and if also gets really humid during the summer months in the morning making some of the equipment stick.

The equipment however is very good Quality and are maintained very well, the mirrors are all very clean as well throughout the day as are the floors, oh and the music is pretty good too!

All in all this is a great gym that I call home during my work day and highly...

I canceled my subscription bc I moved and the gym was closed to “maintenance” issues aka they had covid issues as policies were NOT enforced to protects its members. Story should end there but it didn’t. I moved and was not in area but even if I was didn’t want to risk health and safety coming in. Despite this the insisted I come in to cancel. Spoke to three people finally I thought I was canceled. I put a stop payment on my bank info bc they kept trying to take the money without authorization. The bank stopped them getting it via electronic check however I must have used my debit card there to buy a Gatorade months prior to this. The saved my card info and now are attempting to debit my account months later for a membership I canceled. There is now a dispute being filed and coming soon will be a criminal complaint. My bank informed me that planet fitness has been doing the same thing to many many other people. This gym willingly supports fraud and unauthorized debits from accounts and when blocked will apparently save your debit information to try to back door into your account to steal your money!!! I will tell everyone I know and people I don’t steer clear! They may be nice when you sign up but hey Ted Bundy was nice to women before he killed them! Don’t be fooled and screwed out of your Money!! Go anywhere else but here...these people...

Ok, this place is generally great in terms of staff friendliness. I’ve been attending this gym for years now, however, and in the past year or so, the place has really decreased in cleanliness and general upkeep. Here are a few things I have noticed that are easy areas for improvement:

The towels for wipe-down are often placed right next to the dispensers. It only takes one extra step of installing them.

The water fountain is often super dirty, with mold and orange grime. Makes me feel pretty uncomfortable about drinking water or refilling my own.

The bathrooms could use some help. I can smell urine from the men’s room almost constantly—outside of it, when I’m working out.

Update: given the response to my review, I am wondering why it’s my responsibility to take the next steps and email someone when the Planet fitness team has access to my specific complaints and the email, itself.

Additionally There is a newer female employee who is constantly on her phone, sometimes even having full blown conversations on speaker. That would be fine if she weren’t also so unfriendly. I have to greet her first every time and it is met with a side-eye. If this place weren’t so convenient for me I wouldn’t be coming, so there’s my positive. So...
