Went to opening night at the Sedona Taphouse in Ellis Reserve in Newtown Square this evening. It was a typical Sedona meal â great service, great food, appropriately priced. They have outdoor seating (with massive heaters as needed), a good sized bar area, a main dining room and a second dining room with a couple very large screen television showing sports.
We are seated upon arrival and Nick was our waiter (Nick is very good at his job â and, remember, this was opening night). It looked like the restaurant overstaffed for the start-up - which is extremely smart. The restaurant was very busy but our food came out pretty quickly and hot. We tried the Apache Fire Margarita (special â tasty but I would have preferred less ice, more drink), the Willamette Valley pinot noir (Elouan - delicious), and the T2T lemon basil (very basil-y; again would have preferred the drink a little closer to filling the glass).
For appetizers we had the excellent hummus platter, the bacon wrapped scallops (had a nice sweet and spicy thing going on with really good slaw), and the spicy thai shrimp (winner, winner as long as you are okay with a little spicy kick). For mains, we had the thai glazed salmon (pretty darn good) and the Chuckawalla chicken (delicious).
We joined the Sedona loyalty program after downloading their app and saved 10% off the bill. Every $1 you spend gets you a point and at $200 spent, you are âgoldâ level and get added perks; that will be easy to do because this may have just become our âweâre lazy and want dinner outâ...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. It was a calm Sunday afternoon, and we came to Sedona Taphouse for a casual lunch. We sat at the bar, expecting a laid-back meal and some decent comfort food. What we got instead felt like a strange mix of neglect, attitude, and straight-up bad food.
We ordered burgers â what could go wrong, right? Well... the order came out wrong. The food looked â and tasted â like something from a fake food display. The cheese wasnât even melted, the patty was bone-dry and overcooked, and the whole thing felt like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The fries were cold and lifeless. We kept picking at the food hoping it would redeem itself. It didnât.
What really sealed the experience, though, was the service. The bartender did ask how everything was, but in the most detached, uninterested tone Iâve heard in a long time. It felt more like a box being checked than a question anyone cared about the answer to. We both walked out just kind of stunned â like, did that really just happen?
I donât enjoy writing negative reviews, but when every part of a dining experience feels this careless â from the food to the service â I think itâs worth saying something. There are too many great places out there to waste a meal (and money) like this.
If youâre looking for a good burger and a welcoming vibe, Iâd look elsewhere. This one missed the mark on...
Read moreAfter hosting a magnificent customer service training series at TECA. I was referred to Sedona Tap house & Brewery for lunch. I was greeted very warmly. The waitress was fair to say the least the food came out rather quickly. However; some of came out cold. I ordered the truffle fries (cold) , the smoked wings ( cold & salty) and the barbecue chicken flatbread ( hot) . The waitress never came back once to ask if I needed to have my drink topped off or if everything was OK with the food. Kimâs could have used the customer service training that I just sponsored to say the least. I did inform her that the fries were cold but at this point, my meal is almost over and she asked to replace them and I said no thank you. Not sure what was going on with the flies and the establishment such as this, but the flies were having lunch along with me (ugh) . The ambience is lovely, but they could use some upskilling and retooling in customer service. Iâm not sure if Iâll return again the truffle fries wouldâve been excellent. Have they been hot the wings most likely wouldâve been better had they not been as salty and hot? Everything shouldâve been amazing because I paid over $40...
