Yesterday I went to the North Miami Beach Home Depot to shop for a few items. One of the items was a lawn trimmer. I went to lawn and garden equipment area and spoke to the manager of that area to purchase the equipment because all the equipments there are kept locked up. The manager wrote up a ticket and gave it to me to pay at the cashier then to return to her after with the receipt to pick up the item, which I did. After retrieving the item l proceeded to leave the store through the front entrance but before exiting approached a cashier to show my paid receipt; then exited out. While in the parking lot searching for my car, a store manager from Home Depot named Jose approached me asking if he could help me ,when I asked him what did he mean. He accused me of stealing the trimmer. I asked him , ” Is it because I am black you come out here to the parking lot to harass me and accuse me of stealing?”He made no reply. Then I showed him my receipt. I have never been insulted and felt so humiliated in my life because of my race. This is the first time I have ever experienced something like this. This is surreal. Why would a store have all these measures in place as far as having certain equipments locked up, having a customer pay for the item before it can be retrieved, and on top of that, having store cameras to later chase someone down in the parking lot to falsely accuse them of stealing. It’s only because I am black. This is a perfect example of discrimination. Later that day, I did report this incident to corporate but in reality it doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t change that it happened. This incident has caused me...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience because of Shanita’s outstanding customer service. When I first walked into the gardening section, there was no one around to assist me. I figured everyone was probably busy with other tasks. As I was getting ready to leave, I saw Shanita nearby. Even though she appeared to be occupied and was speaking with another associate, I decided to wait and see if she might be able to help me.
As soon as I approached her, Shanita immediately stopped what she was doing and came over to assist me without hesitation. I needed a price check on some sod to patch up my backyard. She quickly grabbed the pricing gun, walked over, and asked for the price. Vernel—if I got his name right—provided the information. The way both of them worked together to help me was seamless and efficient.
What really stood out was how they anticipated my needs. My husband hadn’t mentioned that sod can be messy and leave dirt in the trunk, but Shanita thought ahead. She asked Vernel to grab something to protect the trunk, and he returned with two large garbage bags, which they laid out before loading the sod.
Throughout the process, Shanita and Vernel kept a friendly, engaged conversation going. It was clear they genuinely enjoy what they do and take pride in providing excellent service. Huge shout out to both of them! Thank you so much—your effort didn’t go unnoticed. You truly went above and beyond, and you both deserve recognition, a raise, or even...
Read moreI’m a general contractor and have been buying at Homedepot for years now but I think those days are coming to an end. Now considering inflation and the increased cost of items it’s even more important to save time and this is where they have totally dropped the ball. Shelves are cluttered and missing basic items making it impossible to quickly find the items you are looking for, the stores are packed with items in the middle of the isles making it impossible to pass with the carts and they have almost completely removed the cashiers, which may work in a minimart but a store that is missing barcodes, sells individually items that have to be manually imputed and or requires verification from an associate just doesn’t work. I was in line for over an hour, watched 2 arguments break out, people abandoning their carts in line making the already cluttered Islas Impassable. A total disaster.. When I eventually made it to the self checkout thy they have one cashier, one person guiding the irritated customers and 5 registers closed down.. I understand cutting cost but I’m absolutely sure Home Depot’s lost sales and customers due to the Inefficiency of this system is significantly greater than training more cashiers… I will be returning to the specific suppliers for our construction needs as it’s now quicker to visit multiple stores rather than attempting to buy everything...
