While searching for a new escape room to do for my birthday this year, I came across escapology and their escape room offerings. I was very torn between the Scooby Doo and Batman rooms but decided on the Scooby Doo room as we had my younger nephew and a friend who had never done an escape room before.
The sign in process was super easy and we got into our room quickly. Ryan was very helpful and while you can tell he has had to give the speech we got hundreds of times, he made it fun and our whole group was laughing. He did give us a quick heads up that a couple of elements in the room were having issues with the weather changes lately but otherwise things were ready to go.
The production value of everything was top notch. This is a licensed usage of Scooby Doo so it has a fully voice acted intro and clues with what sounded like the actual voice actors for all the team. We ended up getting stuck early on because some of us were just a bit too tall to be able to see where a clue was to be used. So we had to burn a hint to get us on the right track.
Otherwise, the puzzles were great, the right mix of beginner to slight intermediate difficulty. We got stuck one other time and had to burn a second hint but otherwise our group got through everything with little difficulty. I believe we passed the room with around 12 minutes remaining on the clock.. we had a few technical issues that the staff had to actually come into the room on (clue failed to drop properly) and the other was the video hints did not play right for two of the characters so we had to burn time waiting for that to work.
All in all, it was a great experience and the whole group really enjoyed themselves. I loved seeing actual licensed content and not the "close but not close enough to get us in trouble" themes most escape rooms use. Ryan helped take the picture commemorating out victory and we also go to meet Aliya as we were wrapping up who was also helping with providing clues and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCompleted over 100 rooms at Escapology, which we think host some of the best rooms in the business. This location is a far cry from the standard one would expect from Escapology. We were not directed to our room until 10 minutes after our reservation, which was the first sign that things were not going to go well. As our game master was trying to explain how things were supposed to go, he was called out by another employee to handle a situation. Then, when he tried to show us how to ask for a clue, no one was responding. In the room, the mechanics did not always work. A different game master had to keep coming in to manually open things that were broken. Often, when we asked for a clue, we would be stuck waiting and lost a lot of time before we would receive a reply. When our time finally did run out, the third game master we saw for the night was very apologetic and agreed with the other game masters that not all of the elements were working properly due to stuck paint. We were not offered a full refund, but a discount on our next escape room. I would never return to this location. I attempted to submit this review on the website, but in the theme of the night, the contact form does not work. I look forward to hearing from management and receiving a full refund for my booking. In the meantime, go to The Escape Game at Crocker Park for a great escape...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI 100% do not recommend doing an Escape Room here. We went and did Scooby Doo and it was very underwhelming and frustrating. When we asked for clues we were given clues to things we had already accomplished, several props were broken so we lost a minute or 2 every time they had to come in and yank one open. Props were missing pieces to puzzles so we couldn't finish them. Plus we wasted a good 5 minutes in the very first room due to a key et that should have fallen out that didn't. The guy working honestly took more time explaining how not to break the very expensive sword before we started then he did speaking to us about our issues. He literally was like....we can't do anything about that, bye. I asked if he was going to take our photo and he said, "No, we don't do that anymore because our IPad broke." I asked if he could take our picture with my phone and he said, "Umm, I guess." Like it was a huge inconvenience. He never mentioned anything about us being able to use the props in our picture that were hanging on a coat tree or the signs that were laying on the counter. I literally had to ask him if we could use the signs. Plus it was VERY hot in the Escape rooms. Needless to say we won't be back. It could be a great time but it needs much improvement....
