This was my first time at this location and maybe my last. I usually shop at Walmart for my groceries when I am in Macedonia, but since I was ALREADY at Target (across the parking lot from this location), we stopped here to pick up some things. We got more items than we planned, and attempted to get through the self checkout quickly. The SCO kept malfunctioning and it took a lot longer than it should have. Suddenly, an employee rushes over to us screaming that we have too many items and THAT is why the SCO isn't working properly. Then she points to the tiny sign on the pole stating "10 items or less" while still screaming that we should be in the OTHER line (which is 20 items or less, but is NOT a self checkout). Mind you, the 20 items or less sign is huge compared to the sign where we are. You cannot see our sign until you are directly in front of it already scanning your items. Our last four items were bottled water packs and by this point a different employee came over and politely asked if she could help us by entering in the total quantity of water, so that we wouldn't have to keep scanning one pack multiple times (AND because they don't have a handheld scanner for larger items). We thanked her for her assistance and she apologized for the inconvenience. Most people who use the SCO just want to get in & out and want to avoid the sour attitudes that a lot of customer service workers seem to have since COVID. Proper signage and not screaming at us would have made this a better experience. This was the first time we had been to this location and assumed that it had the same amount of SCO lanes as other stores (at least two large order lanes and at least two smaller order lanes). We will stick to Market District in Solon from now on or go to Walmart when...
Read moreEdit 3/16: While cashier service has improved slightly, I really don't appreciate cashier supervisors trying to accuse me of trying to get Primo at half price like I didn't bring bottles in. Stopping me at the exit to prove I brought bottles in and that the machine didn't give me tickets is ridiculous. Check your cameras. Also, saying "oh" when I've proven you wrong and just walking off without an apology is completely unprofessional. You're an adult. Learn to act like it.
If Peppers weren't so small, I'd be shopping there. The only redeeming parts of this store are the curbside service and the niceness of employees.
The cashiers are extremely slow in this store. Every time I go here I am in line for over 40 minutes and there are only three people in front of me. I have to mark cashiers each time to avoid certain lines if I can't use self checkout
When I worked at Top's 20 years ago this never would've flown. You were not allowed to be that slow. Managers were on you like flies on pie. Giant Eagle also needs to stop being cheap and bring back baggers. I'd rather bag my own groceries because that might actually cut down my time. It's inexcusable.
Last note: any time this store does a reorg, they arrange products in a manner that makes absolutely no sense. If we had other options I would use them. Sadly, the Marc's in Sagamore is no better. Back to driving 20 minutes to Fairlawn to go...
Read moreeasily THE worst giant eagle in north east ohio. i have been a faithful shopper my entire life; my parents left me in the eagles nest to do their shopping when i was younger. this store does not order anywhere near enough product for how many people shop there. sale products will be out the first day. most meat has a shelf life of one to two days. the cashiers are either young high schoolers who don’t pay attention to what they’re doing; last time the girl forgot to ring up half my order??? i only noticed when my total was a fraction of what it should’ve been. i had to wait 20+ minutes while she checked out another woman, almost dropping her wine because she wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing- or frankly, very elderly. i had an elderly person check me out, never said a word to me, coughed with an open mouth all over my groceries and then ignored my requests of payment methods. the only two self checkouts are supposed to be 12 items or less, which is CLEARLY stated with signage on the machine, yet management just stands there and watches people checkout with FULL carts, meanwhile we’ve got two cashiers open moving at snail speeds. they also have no shopping baskets to carry items which is ridiculous. this store is so close to my house and i’ll happily drive to meijer 20 minutes away to...
