Overall this hotel is an okay stop for a night, but I wouldnāt stay any longer than that just based off the size of the rooms. They are tiny. Which isnāt anything to give a negative review over, but something to note if you didnāt realize that like me. The room we got was 409. Upon entering, we noticed it wasnāt super clean. Crumbs on the desk, night stands, and floor. Sticky residue and and marks left behind by cups kinda gave away that the counters hadnāt been wiped down. Called down to ask for a different room, but unfortunately they were sold out. Itās a Friday night though. So, thatās to be expected. Luckily I brought some Clorox wipes. So, we just cleaned a bit ourselves. The thing in the shower that holds the shampoo and conditioner was ripped off the wall and sat on a shelf in the shower. The bottles were broken as well so it was hard to get any soap out to take a shower. Some hair and moldy bits in the shower but nothing super crazy. Handprints on the windows and crumbs and sticky stuff on the window sill. Metal frame around the window was broken at the bottom so itās just kind of hanging on top the AC unit. Room just definitely could have used another look over before selling it but I understand that housekeeping has its struggles right now so stuff happens.
There are of course some positives though! Christy (hope Iām not spelling that wrong) at the desk was super nice. Very friendly at check in and offered me some points for the trouble with the room which I appreciated. Overnight guy (didnāt catch his name but worked the night of 04/14) was friendly as well. The lobby was super clean and really cozy. Not a big coffee person but I had to try the coffee machines cause most hotels I stay at donāt have these ones that grind the beans before brewing. Clean gym with good equipment, and small pool but better than none! Comfortable bed and quick breakfast if youāre just heading out the door.
Overall, I think Iām just not an Avid hotel kind of customer. Prefer a little more space in my room. This Avid in particular excels in customer service and public area cleanliness, but at least my room could have used a little more attention in regards to cleanliness and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first stay at an Avid and I wasnāt totally sure what to expect. The front desk told me they gave me a Platinum member upgrade but I donāt really think there are upgrades at this hotel. On the way up the elevator to the 4th floor, I mentioned to another guest that this is my first stay at an Avid. He prepared me for a small room and said itās āthe Ikea of hotelsā. I think heās right. The colors in the property are modern and bright. It makes you smile with everything looking fresh. Even the common areas and grounds appeared clean and well maintained.
A briefing is somewhat required before you go to the room because there is an unmarked āmaster switchā by the front door that must be turned on before much in the room works, including the bathroom lights. The HVAC unit under the window isnāt marked that you canāt control it from the unit but rather from a thermostat on the wall. The stat has a strange menu function but you can figure it out eventually. I couldnāt find an ice bucket but was told there is one machine off the lobby, which is fine. They use disposable ice buckets which I liked because they feel clean and safe. Once I was settled in the room, it was very clean and nice. The bed was comfy. The hot water arrived quickly and hot. I was surprised with the low number of electrical outlets in the room however.
The pool was still closed due to Covid for some reason even though Ohio has been fully opened up. Breakfast was also scaled down and was quite mediocre because of it.
I can be a tough critic but the television system was THE BEST system I have ever seen in a hotel. About 80-100 channels of all digital HD programming with a fast and responsive big screen flat TV. I found all the channels that I enjoy and a few that I havenāt tried before.
Overall I was very happy here and would definitely stay again but would ask for a room away from the main street which is quite noisy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's not just that the hotel was great, but the employees made for an exceptional stay.
What started out as an overnight stay for two rooms ended in a 15 night stay for one room and several nights between several other rooms for family members as our beloved Dad was in Riverside ICU. We updated our stay on an almost daily basis without any trouble.
The hotel staff - especially Christi and the manager - were magnificent. They updated our stays, allowed for late check outs and early check ins, when possible, to accommodate our ever-changing needs. The house keeping staff was very kind to clean as needed and refill items as necessary. They were always available!
Breakfast was enjoyed by several in our group with various options available. Fresh brewed coffee and tea provided 24/7 in the hotel lobby were a wonderful blessing as we were coming and going at strange hours. The water machine with both still and sparkling water was an added treat for me personally.
The ice machine in the lobby was great to have and the pool was a welcome spot to unwind the few nights we could use it due to our strange schedule. We didn't use the workout room, but it has many machines and weights.
While there was no microwave in the room, we had no trouble taking our items to the lobby to reheat.
The hotel didn't have laundry services or machines, but a quick drive into downtown Hilliard, to the coin laundry, was no trouble.
This will be "OUR" go-to hotel for the Columbus area from now on. We've stayed in various hotels in the area over the years, from low end to 4 star for over night stays to week long stays and this one takes the cake as THE best.
Many thanks for the owners and staff for making a difficult time for our family...
