If your question is "is this worth the money?" Yes it is. Stop thinking and go book a spot already, it's an experience of a lifetime. Leave Hawaii with lots of memories and pictures.
At the dive location at Electric Beach Park, the water was clear, the tide was calm and the weather was perfect. There are washrooms, lots of parking and a rinse station. One thing to mention is to NOT leave any valuables in your car, as with most parking lots here, there is a lot of car theft. They do not have lockers, but if you have valuables, you can keep them in the instructors car, or even better, in a small Waterproof bag (wallet, keys, camera). You can buy these at any souvenier shop.
It was my first time doing a real scuba dive and I got to swim with Sea Turtles, saw lots of fish and beautiful reefs. Of course with any wildlife, the same rule applies, like when my girlfriend is mad at me... look, but don't touch. Hehe.
Our instructor, Randy was an awesome guy and a great instructor. During the dive he makes sure you're okay by constantly giving the "okay?" hand signal throughout the dive and will help you if needed. As with any safety briefing, it will be boring, but pay attention, it will save your life.
The scuba tank and gear overall weighs around 55-60lb, but keep in mind 2 things: 1. if you need help lifting the gear or getting out the water, your instructor can help, 2. Equipment is lighter in water.
Pictures: if you're in the water and you have a cheap waterproof phone pouch (like I did), chances are it may fail. If it does, you can make the hand gesture to the instructor, of clicking a camera button and he'll take pictures for you. For an extra $35 approximately, it's worth it.
Just breathe and focus: if it's your first time scuba diving, just remember NOT to freak out during the dive. Breathe naturally through your regulator / mouth piece. Follow the instructions from your instructor and you'll have an...
Read moreI loved the time I had! My family went two days before me and they had so much fun that I had to try too! I was so nervous and anxious because I had never been scuba diving, I did not like snorkeling, and I’m 44 years old and overweight. I am so glad that I went though!!!!! Dustin took the time to make sure I understood everything that was going to happen and taught us the skills needed to just have fun and be safe if anything should happen under water, nothing happened, but I was prepared! My anxiety went away closer to the end of the dive because I’m an anxious person to begin with, but the cool thing is I was able to relax and absorb all the beautiful things, we even saw a turtle!!! I loved this adventure more than anything I’m so glad I went and felt 100...
Read moreMy wife had concerns about going diving. We met Dustin and Randy at the dive site. They were very pleasant , understanding and knowledgeable . They answered the numerous questions we had. My wife was happy with the meeting and we decided to n book for the following day. They could tell she was scared. Dustin closed booking for the afternoon and allowed my wife and I to go out alone. The training was very clear and easy to follow along. We got our to the dive site and Randy was extremely patient with my wife. Eventually she had to back out and he brought her back to shore and returned to me. My dive was great. He showed me all the sites that were there to see. When it was all over I had no doubt in my mind that we chose the right...
