My mini-golf experience was fun! But if you look younger than 25 and want to enjoy a night out with your friends by ordering a drink here, read the rest-
Before mini-golf started, me and my friend decided we wanted to get a few drinks. (Keep in mind, they check your ID when you walk in after a certain time because they have 21+ only nights). We sat at the bar and unfortunately our interaction with the bartender was not ideal. I am a young adult, so naturally she asked to check my ID (I have no problem with this because I know I look young). The bartender walked off with both of our IDs and did not tell us what was going on. I assumed she was just going to another scanner because hers was not working.
She came back 5 minutes later without my ID to tell me that although both IDs scanned/registered, she wanted her manager in the back to take a better look since there is a high volume of fake IDs coming in. I said okay. After another 8 minutes I walked up to the host at the check-in desk and asked to speak with the manager myself. I explained the situation to the front end supervisor. The front supervisor approached the bartender who had ALREADY gotten confirmation that my ID was a valid ID from her back end supervisor, and told her again that we are good to serve. (She still had both IDs after getting confirmation from her manager in the back, she just didn’t bother to return the IDs to us or serve us!) After getting a second verification from the supervisor I spoke with, the bartender then comes back to the bar to return both mine and my friend’s ID.
She proceeds to tell me “whoever made your ID is really good because it seems so real” but my friend should “tell the person who made her ID to be better next time”. I was absolutely taken aback by her accusation that mine or my friend’s ID was fake when not 1, but 2 supervisors had already told her that they were both real IDs! It was such a disrespectful and uncalled-for comment to make. I told her again that it is not a fake ID and that I am 22. She then snatched the ID from my hand to show me what about it made her suspicious! At this point I became irritated and could not deal with her anymore and simply said “we are not doing this, where is that manager” A security guard then noticed the tension and approached me at the bar. Walking up right after him was the back-end manager who was checking my ID.
As the manager is clarifying the situation, the bartenders are standing across from me making comments about how annoying I am with one another and rolling their eyes. (Not a good look, again!) After he walks away and returns our IDs, we are still seated at the bar but now the other 2 bartenders were visibly ignoring serving us. After about 25 minutes, me and my friend were finally served by a stale faced bartender who was not happy to be serving us. Like I did something wrong??
Lol otherwise, mini-golf was a great time!
All of this aside, I have some recommendations I would like to make for the staff - Do not take someone’s personal document and leave them wondering where it is or what is going on for several minutes. If there is an issue like this in the future, call the manager to the front. Do not take an ID that registers as valid to the back. And I can’t even believe I have to say this, but please mind your manners!
I understand the risk and safety policies at hand, but I would appreciate it if your staff members followed proper guidelines to avoid other conflicts. That bartender was all over the place, inappropriate, and rude throughout our entire encounter and I hope she and the rest of the bartenders receive some sort of training or instruction on how to conduct oneself while serving to limit petty interactions like the one that I experienced last...
Read moreMy husband and I had a great date night at Puttshack once before, so we visited again on 1/11/25, and we were disappointed this time around. We played 18 holes and had a reservation for dinner. The first 9 were played at 4:50 PM and it took us an hour to get through. It was very busy but that’s not the problem. With how busy they were, it didn’t seem like anyone was assigned to maintaining the cleanliness of the course. There was one staff member at the entrance helping with check in. She didn’t move from that spot, which I understand, but no one else came through. There were dozens of empty drink glasses on all the tables making it difficult to find a spot to put our drinks down when it was our turn to play. When we were on hole 2, we heard a loud crash coming from somewhere towards the end of the course. Approximately 45 minutes later, we found the broken drinkware and the shattered glass on hole 8 still spread across the floor! This hole is close to the 1 staff member on duty, so I can’t imagine why it hadn’t been cared for in almost an hour.
After playing our 2nd round at 5:50 PM, which wasn’t as crowded, we checked in early for our 7:00 PM dinner reservation at 6:40 PM. After speaking with someone, and returning to the front desk a 2nd time to confirm, we were told we were all checked in. We waited for 35 minutes, and after seeing quite a few empty tables and not receiving a text, my husband returned to the front desk for a 3rd time at 7:15 PM to inquire about the status of our reservation. This time, we were sat immediately as if we were completely forgotten. No expected text, apology, or recognition of our wait, only, “Your table is ready.”
It took some time to be greeted by our server after being seated. The party that was seated next to us about 10 minutes after we were received their waters before we did. The server never returned once after taking our food order. Therefore, my husband was never offered a refill on his drink until we finished our food and he requested the check. With no one checking in on us, I was also never able to ask for more ketchup or ask for the avocados that were supposed to be included inside the Cali chicken wrap. The manager seemed to be popping around to different tables asking about experiences. She missed ours quite a few times but when she did make it to our table, we wanted to leave and my husband just asked for a box and the check, since we hadn’t seen our server since placing our order.
My husband and I were at Puttshack for just short of 4 hours and the bathrooms hadn’t seemed cared for for the entirety of our time with the exception of the hand towelettes getting refilled between bathroom visits. The stalls themselves got dirtier and dirtier. Toilet paper everywhere, dirty toilets, and unfilled, loose toilet papers rolls with new rolls just sitting on the floors. My husband described a brown substance in one of the urinals. Drink glasses were left in the bathroom and not cleaned up.
Even with this experience, we did enjoy playing golf and think it’s a really fun and cool concept. There’s just a lot of opportunity for staff...
Read morePlanned a night out with friends with a party of 6. 2 of the 6 people were unable to make it but we thought we would ask if there is anything Puttshack can do. We were understanding that there was nothing they could do for the 2 people who didn't show up as it was past the 12 hour window to modify a reservation. The manager who went by "Papa Joe" gave us 2 free game play coupons. We asked if it was possible to play a second round after our first 9 holes and we were told it would be impossible due to it being a Saturday night. After finishing our first game of 9 holes, we found it it was possible to play another game by using one of their kiosks that is used for checking in and checking available times. Because we were originally told we were not able to play, we had no other option but to choose a much later time for our second round. Once again, we were still understanding and proceeded to book another game at that later time on the kiosk. When trying to use the coupon codes, they would not work so we brought this to the attention of "Papa Joe" who originally gave us the coupons. This is where frustration and the disrespect by management begins. "Papa Joe" told us that the coupons would not work for that night and could not give us an answer as to why they would not work. We were given every excuse under the sun for why WE were doing things incorrectly and were given absolutely no assistance. "Papa Joe" has now risen his voice and has now ripped the coupon IN MY FACE. It was not until I lost my patience and had to tell "Papa Joe" the level of disrespect he has shown me and my party before absolutely any assistance was given. "Papa Joe" muttered something under his breath before rudely handing us off to another one of your team members and telling her to "handle it." Team member Gianna and D'Andrea felt so bad for the way we were treated that they were able to help us get a more reasonable time for round 2. To add, it was not until we got home and found the one coupon that "Papa Joe" didn't rip up has been expired for 5 months. Which is why it wasn't working in the first place. I can't help but feel that "Papa Joe" knew this and was using these coupons as a way to "Shut up and move on." This would also explain why he couldn't give us a reason for why the coupons wouldn't work. Prior to this experience we have genuinely enjoyed our experience at Puttshack and unfortunately after this experience I am not sure we will ever return again after the level of disrespect in a public...
