Extremely disappointed in this hotel. Will never stay here again and will likely avoid Mariott Bonvoy in the future. We booked this room to celebrate my birthday. It was just my 2 sisters & I. We had Broadway tickets the next day and were unable to book downtown due to the annual oncologist convention, so I found this hotel through a google search. Things started out great. We had excellent mocktails, dinner & desserts at el tapeo. Afterwards we went back to our room on the second floor and turned on the bravo channel and were just relaxing, laughing & TALKING. My one sister had a migraine, so she was laying down. Around 11:15pm we started to get ready for bed and there was a knock at the door. It was the front desk lady whose name we did not get. My sister answered and the lady said we were being too loud. We were so confused. We are loud talkers but didn’t think we were being that loud. We apologized and told her omg we are so sorry we will keep it down and she would not leave- she just kept repeating herself that we were being loud. She wanted us to come down to the lounge with her, she felt we needed to “spread out”. We explained that we were in our pajamas and getting ready for bed. I proceeded to tell her ok we hear you we will be quiet thank you & tried to shut the door to in which she grabbed the door and said “Do NOT shut MY door on ME.” I was appalled. Shocked. She then proceeded to tell us that we were giving her attitude, and this was the second time we were being told to be quiet to which we said WHAT?! We had not been called or had anyone else from the hotel visit our room that night. She came to the wrong room. I told her that everyone in this hotel is LOUD. The walls are paper thin. The doors have gaps. There is a wedding or celebration taking place on the 9th floor and the music is bumping so loudly but you are going to accost me for being too loud for just talking?!? Absolutely ridiculous. This woman was on a power trip. I ended up calling the hotel and speaking to guest relations regarding this incident and was apologized to and told that there was miscommunication between the employees. That the bellhop had gone up to our floor to another room and told people to quiet down. They received more complaints so then this woman instead of finding out which room the bellhop had gone to she just came to our floor and stood in front of each room & found the loudest one at that moment. She told us she stood & listened to us for a while which is really creepy and violating. Do better, Le Meredien Oakbrook Terrace. You ruined my night, literally could not sleep all night because of this woman. Your apology really is not...
Read moreThis hotel stay was a joke. We were looking for an upscale/luxury hotel near Oakbrook. Upon arriving, there was no one at the valet or door in general. I had to say something to the desk, and eventually one of them took the car. The initial welcome at the desk was cold verses the person checking in next too us which really made us feel unwelcome. It took forever. They may have been training someone, but at peak check-in? The first room they gave us had a guy already in the room. He didn't appreciate us barging in, we were embarrassed, and had to haul the luggage back to the desk. Then there was confusion since I previously called for a late check out and there was a problem then finding a room that could accommodate a late check out. We finally got a room. The room, especially the bathroom, was extremely small. We knew there was no pool, but wanted to ask the concierge for lap swimming options. No concierge at this hotel !?!. The front desk mentioned a place we could go. They said something about "life time fitness", there's a special price, and it's just a few minutes away. They wouldn't write it down for us, so I had to call later and wait for a call back. It was the Park District, not a club, and the special price was the normal price. The next problem was WIFI access. We were first put in 817 (guy in the room), then we were put in 622 and that room didn't work for the WIFI with my name. They said try 617. Didn't work. Then they said try 528 which was "the room we were suppose to have." That room was never mentioned before, and it did work. What a mess. It was hard to sleep in the room because the curtains didn't block out light at the top, bottom, and corner (it was a corner window - and I even used clips). There are only two elevators making waits at peak times very slow. To top it off, our keys didn't work at 2 o'clock when I had previously called and received a 4'oclock check out at check in. We went to the desk and they said they should work until 4, but they didn't. They tried to make new keys but the key machine wouldn't work for 5 to 10 minutes. Again, no valet at checkout (one eventually came), so I got the keys and got my own car. If you are expecting an upscale experience, you won't get that here. There's no welcome services and the front desk experience was a total mess. They tried to fix somethings and no we eventually didn't have to pay for the night, but it's like they still didn't get it because there weren't basic hotel services that we understood would be at a Le Meridien. This was one of the worst stays we have ever had and wasn't representative at all of a...
Read moreI am visiting for a work trip so my employer chose this hotel due to it being an 8 minute walk to the store I'm training at.
I'd say the location is pretty decent due to being right next to the mall, at least 10 different restaurants/bars, and more all within walking distance.
The hotel itself is nice with a cafe, bar and restaurant available. The only negative about the room itself is the small bathrooms and the way they are configured (SEE PHOTO). The door when open all the way blocks the sink, so you have no choice but to close it to use the sink and before sitting to use the restroom because your knees cannot be fully comfortable and if you decide to close the door while you're using the restroom, you cannot close the door without standing up. Also, when the shower door is open all the way, it collides with the toilet. If you open it too fast and don't control how fast you open it, you could smash it against the toilet and break the glass with enough force even on accident. I believe the restroom was not built the best for these size rooms and isn't comfortable for guests.
The last unfortunate experience I had was when attempting to use my room coffee machine. It didn't work and was only spitting out hot water for tea even after in a coffee capsule. I called the front desk, who asked if they could send up maintenance to assist, and I said yes, that would be great. I waited 45 minutes, and no one showed. I then called the front desk, who apologized and provided a complimentary coffee voucher I could use at the cafe. I was late for work, so I provided the voucher to the barista, and she gave me a to go cup of coffee. I should have asked if or where there was cream and sugar because it was coffee black, which I do not like at all. However, when I got back from my work day, the maintenance had fixed my machine and left an apology note.
Other than that, everything else was enjoyable, including the other staff who were welcoming...
