Don't go here, all the board game prices are marked up. There has been 2 instances where I called for pricing on a board game. Both times the board game was more expensive than the other closest gaming goat. At another point, I was specifically told by an employee that a hard to get board game wasn't marked up. It was my fault for not being a smarter shopper, but after my purchase, I realised it was marked up from the suggested retail price. I wouldn't have been upset if he hadn't lied to me, specifically stating it wasn't marked up. Other gaming goat locations have better prices board game wise, can't say much about cards. Let's say you can look past the prices. This is also probably the sloppiest looking board game store I have seen. All the board games seemed disorganized on their wall, you couldn't even see certain ones unless you start moving board game boxes. I remember seeing the same board game in three different places in the store. Customer service was also pretty rude over the phone, sounded like I was talking to a immature teenager. At one point I was told "he could work out a deal for me," which honestly just sounds like your overcharging me in the first place. Because it's really small and cramped, couple times I have been there it kinda smelled. Do yourself a favor and go to a different gaming goat. I know they're privately owned, but this location is very disappointing and is giving a bad reputation for...
Read moreThis store is not paying fair prices on cards for cash. I waited 90 minutes for them to count my cards. They had to stop several times to help other customers. They ended up offering 20% of the market price. They weren't willing to negotiate higher. Employees commented that lots of folks are selling their cards now, so much that they were out of cash and would only offer a check or store credit. They said they look at the lowest recent sale price on TCGplayer and offer less than half that. Fair prices are usually 50% of the average marketprice. I asked if I could think it over and come back later, and the employee said "If you do that I would recommend not coming back". I had been patient and polite and his response felt pretty rude.
I looked at the paper where the employee was writing down his buy prices on each of my cards. He actually offered me 20 bucks less than the price he had written on his paper. I'm gonna assume he was rushing, overworked, and making mistakes, and wasn't trying to lowball me worse than he already had.
I went to a different dice shop on the Northside later that day, spent a minute filling out a form and dropping off my cards, then got an email back the next day where they offered me double what these guys offered, and sent a zelle payment soon after.
Don't waste...
Read moreI am very dissapointed in the service. I called earlier this afternoon to ask if it is open today, because it is new years, they said they are having a magic tournemant and ask me to come around 6. I clearly ask when are they going to close today, and they said 8. So I went all the way from rogers park to this place just because the service is very good, but I would never figured how dissapointed I am when I arrived there 6.48 pm in a very coldddd weather of -16degree celcius after an hour of the line just to see the shop close....... Man you really "Made my day"… Ps. Girlfriend's toes hurts a lot from the walk from the station to the shop and ended up paying 53 bucks to go all the way back to...
