I'm writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service provided by this business, a computer repair and parts replacement business. I entrusted my new computer, equipped with $3000 worth of hardware, to this business for diagnostics and repairs as it was failing a hardware compatibility test.
Initially, the owner appeared helpful and promised to conduct a free hardware test. After five weeks, I was informed that my components were working together. He indicated that the issues were related to the firmware embedded in the individual components, which he claimed to have resolved. However, his explanations were inconsistent over time, making me question the actual cause.
The owner claimed to have identified several hardware issues unrelated to the original problem I brought the computer in for. He quoted two prices and suggested upgrading to high-end components.
While we reached an agreement on the replacements and repairs, I found it concerning that the owner provided only vague justifications to their necessity. The agreement simply stated the need for a new case, cooling system, and addressing an electrical issue related to low wattage. Additionally, cosmetic repairs were mentioned for the motherboard. Unfortunately, the owner failed to provide a clear cost breakdown, specifically distinguishing between parts and labor, which later became a source of confusion and dissatisfaction.
When I got my computer back, I discovered that the original components had been replaced with less expensive parts, which accounted for less than 20% of the invoice and fell well below my expectations for high-end quality. Additionally, several unnecessary features were added, including multiple bright LED lights that could not be turned off or adjusted. Despite my explicit request for performance upgrades, these changes did not enhance the computer's performance.
Moreover, the workmanship was substandard. The JFP1 front panel connectors were installed incorrectly, and the Flash BIOS Button was not reinstalled. The overall repair process took an unnecessarily long time, spanning over 10 weeks.
In addition, without my consent, the store installed Windows Pro and several third-party applications on a clean hard drive. This action was unnecessary and unrelated to hardware diagnostics, breaching my trust and raising privacy concerns. It's important to note that the necessary hardware testing can be performed during the power-on self-test (POST) or in the BIOS setup, both of which do not require an operating system. Alternatively, if an operating system is needed for specific cases, hardware diagnostics can be conducted using a live USB drive with a dedicated operating system, eliminating the need for any permanent installation. Consequently, I was forced to remove the unauthorized operating system and applications on my own, which added further inconvenience and frustration.
Despite my repeated requests, the owner failed to provide an itemized list of all prices, including labor, in the invoice. Instead, I received an ambiguous invoice that listed the total cost as $1586.85, incorrectly assigning the entire amount to the case while valuing all other individual parts at $0. This misrepresentation does not accurately reflect the actual value of the installed parts. Based on my estimation, the combined value of the replaced components is around $300. I have retained this receipt as evidence of these questionable charges and the lack of transparency in the cost breakdown.
This discrepancy, coupled with the owner's dismissive attitude towards my concerns and a refusal to take appropriate actions to rectify the situation, left me feeling disrespected and taken advantage of.

UPDATE RUES JAN 7 I then tried to pick up the Xbox 2 months after waiting months for it ( I had to wait that long because I moved out of town which meant physically being there was going to be challenging to say the least) after sending my girlfriend to pick it up the manager did not want to return it saying it i left it for more than 30 days and that he was entitled to keep it UNLESS I REWROTE MY REVIEW.
