Read moreHello, My family and I went on to air bnb to rent an air bnb and we came across john carlos profile listed as jennifer! He rented his space to us here at the addison apts at universal. What we did not know was that he has his apt under camera survellience. We are actively being recorded. He has a hidden camera in his closet. My husband and I kept hearing noises coming from this closet and there in his closet he has an active camera recording the apt. When we noticed the camera he immediately called my phone asking why was we looking at his camera. He texted us also and sent camera footage. I asked him why are you recording us. He claimed to only be recording his closet. Long story short. The complex up front claims he has broken the rules in sub leasing his place. apt 5305 to be exact at the addison apts. at universal blvd. I have filed a police report. They did come out to the apt to check into this situation. We have been paying carlos 600 a week since july. I have a 7 year old girl here and my elderly father. When I decided to not pay him after finding these cameras he then shut the lights off. From how he has the camera setup which is off of motion detectors he is able to control the lights in here. He has cut the lights off on us 3 times since our stay here. We want our money back and we want criminal action taken for our privacy being invaded. The cameras are still here and active and recording as I type this to you. The front office claims to be handling the situation but no one has been here to assess this situation. Please someone in corporate help in anyway. Help my family and I get our money back and get action taking here. I will include a picture of the police incident number and a picture of carlos air bnb profile. I have all conversation on file. all receipts of payments. Everything!!!!! We have everything. We are looking to leave but we first want this matter taken care of efficiently. Please someone reach out to us. We almost think that the front office might be involved in this air bnb contraption here at this complex. I am filing suit. He has threatened to throw me and my family out for not continuing to send him money. We are currently under his surveillance and he is threatening to come to the apt and throw us out. Please send help! The front office says that they are corporate and that they are the ones to fix this issue but nothing has been done. We need and want to be reimbursed. Also don't stay here or rent from here this place has some real creepy things going on here. One minute a family is here and the next thing its a different family in the unit. I don't know who owns this building but they need to come get a hold of it because there's some dirt being done here with illegal renting and recording in these apts. Also the apt above this unit that we are in which is (5305) has some funny activity going on as well. Personally I think it may be connected to the dirt thats going on here in this apt. There's a lot of dirty mess. Leasing agents pay attention to who you are leasing to and what's going on in here! Seriously!!! Praying my lawyer resolves this efficiently! Thanks. UPDATE We have been given this apt as an air bnb illegally by John Carlos and he has also been actively illegally recording us! and this complex has been more than nice in helping us resolve this situation! Thank you Addison Apts. To John Carlos you should be ashamed to do people bad like that. People beware of him and his air bnb add! Contact me if you need further more private info! This is in regards to apt. 5305 ! Thank you Addison for helping the best way you can. Thank you for...
STUDIO APARTMENT - I have been dealing with persistent noise disturbances in my apartment for ONE YEAR . Despite numerous complaints and providing documented evidence as requested by management, no meaningful action was taken until I personally visited the leasing office.
I complied with all instructions, including documenting the noise issues for seven consecutive days. The leasing staff acknowledged that this unit had a history of problems and initially assured me the transfer fee would be waived. However, I am now being told I must pay a $1,500 transfer fee — despite no resolution being provided.
Management is also attempting to blame the noise disturbances on “pipe issues,” which is inaccurate. Maintenance appointments were scheduled and repeatedly postponed, and no one showed up as promised.
My lease clearly states that residents are entitled to a peaceful and comfortable living environment (Section 21), which has been blatantly violated by the management’s failure to address these ongoing issues.
I would not recommend this property unless major changes are made in how tenant concerns are handled.
UPDATE: 5/23: Unfortunately, after nearly a year of ongoing noise disruptions, I’m still being told that the issue is “believed” to be fixed, without any confirmation under regular living conditions. Meanwhile, the upstairs tenants were away on vacation during the supposed resolution period . MEANING I haven’t even had a chance to verify if the problem is truly resolved. Despite 11 months of sleep disruption and mental exhaustion, I’ve been told I STILL have to pay a transfer fee to move.
I’ve tried to work with them in good faith, but the lack of empathy and true resolution has made this experience one of the most difficult rental situations I’ve ever had.
UPDATE 6/3/25: they’re still charging me $1500 to move into a new unit.
UPDATE: 6/17/25: They basically are choosing on their OWN to not renew my lease. They sent an email and letter stating I need to move out in September and also took away the option of a lease transfer.
Moral of the story they did not help me with my noise complaints and told me to leave since I kept...

I finally moved out of this so-called “luxury” apartment complex, and I can’t believe I actually survived three years here. If you are considering living here, read the following carefully and think twice.
Misleading First Impressions When I first moved in, I was busy with work and just wanted a place close to the office. The leasing staff seemed nice at the time, so I signed the lease. Big mistake.
Serious Safety Concerns By the end of the first year, management sent emails warning residents to lock their cars and not leave anything inside. Soon after, police were seen around the complex, and security guards even stayed here for a while — a clear sign of ongoing crime issues.
Poor Living Environment •Terrible soundproofing: Even on the top floor, I could hear loud voices and motorcycle noises from outside. •“Smoke-free” policy is a joke: They claim the community is smoke-free, but the moment you open your door, you smell cigarette smoke. People smoke openly all around the complex.
Package Management Mess We were charged a monthly package handling fee, but packages were dumped in a messy storage room, especially during holidays. Packages went missing often, and security cameras even caught people stealing — yet nothing changed.
Awful Maintenance and Customer Service In May, my washing machine broke. When I went to the leasing office, all the staff had changed, and their attitude was terrible. The maintenance guy did a sloppy job, didn’t fix the problem, and replaced my washer with two different dirty ones. Several loads of laundry came out dirtier than before, and I had to throw the clothes away. When I complained to the manager, she argued, refused to solve the problem, and even threatened us. No apology. No compensation. Nothing. For comparison, in my previous place, when the AC broke, the landlord paid for a hotel until it was fixed.
If you want a good living experience, look somewhere else – anywhere else will...
