I wanted to like this place. I was a server for over 10 years so I have a lot of empathy for industry folk, but this was in the top 3 worst service experiences of my life and by far the worst at any place I’ve been at in Orlando. My girlfriend and I ordered stuffed French toast and a chicken and biscuits to share for breakfast. The waitress (never introduced herself, but I don’t need to put her on blast either) brought us out biscuits and gravy by mistake (easy mistake to make). I told her “I ordered the chicken biscuits, I think this is biscuits and gravy and she replied “no, you ordered the biscuits and gravy.” I told her that we ordered the chicken and biscuits, add two eggs and sorry about the confusion and she looks at her little tablet and just turns around and walks off. We weren’t upset or impatient, I just pointed out that it was not what I ordered and she didn’t seem like the type that could accept being wrong. It’s a semi-open counter/kitchen set up and we’re facing it, so we’re just watching her gossip and hang out by the kitchen window until our food came out. When it was ready she comes out and just hands it to me, no words, no apologies, nothing. Taste-wise; it was pretty good, but it was so hard to enjoy it after catching that bad attitude. She half-heartedly checked up on us once while we were eating and later asked if we wanted a box and before I even finished saying yes, plopped the check down. I left a 12% tip and I truly regret giving her that. It wasn't that busy in there and the table next to us had to flag down the gossiping waiters and just ended up walking up to the front to get their check. For a “family owned” spot, I feel like you get a more welcoming vibe at the theme parks and chain restaurants than you do here, take this to-go if you’re nearby and want solid breakfast, but they don’t offer anything so special to go out of your way for, especially if you’re dining in.

What can I say, other than I had an amazing experience here at @ The Diner! From the point I entered it was instantly noticeable how modern and homely the atmosphere felt. The restaurant was visually very clean with a spacious floor plan consisting of highbar seating, tables, and booths. They had a fairly large menu with variety of options, both classic favorites and creative spins on traditional breakfast items. The service was extremely friendly and welcoming. They were patient and knowledgeable and were able to answer all my questions about the menu and checked in with me on the coffee and how the food was multiple times which spoke to the attentiveness to customers. They were obviously trained and recruited well. As for my dish, Huevos Rancheros, The eggs were cooked beautifully to my liking, which was over easy. The potatoes were seasoned well, not overly salty and the balance of flavors with the avocado and salsa married well with the eggs and potatoes. This was definitely not a traditional Huevos Rancheros, usually including corn tortillas and beans instead of potato, but is totally worth checking out if youre looking for a spin on this classic Mexican breakfast favorite. And if that wasn't enough, I added a single pancake on the side, prepared Cinnamon Toast Crunch style, and man, was it something else. This dish was an instant showstopper with out of this world flavor! The added crunch of the cereal and freshness of the whipped cream and the caramel syrup went so beautifully with the fluffy and light pancake that nothing else was needed to devour that bad boy. @ The Diner is defintely a place worth checking out on any occasion. You won't be disappointed!

Sausage and pepper omelette - ⭐ ⭐ Peach mimosa - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Passion fruit mimosa - ⭐⭐ Place seemed relatively busy when I arrived but I got my food within 10 minutes which was impressive. Unfortunately the food was not, the omelette tasted the same it would have had I made it at home (and I'm not a very good cook). But I chowed it down with a few mimosas before I ended my time in Orlando and headed back to Vero. Which brings me to the next issue, kudos to the server for noticing that I had pushed my empty plate and empty glass forward and placed my credit card out to bring attention I'm ready to leave. He brought the check over instead of asking if I was ready, but then he didn't return for over 5 minutes. Over 7 different employees saw my check and credit card ready to be received and no one thought of checking me out so I could be on my way. That was disappointing I understand my waiter was behind and I was a lost cause since my service was complete, but anyone could have swiped my card and let me be on my way. I wanted another mimosa but seeing how slow things were going I decided not to extend my stay. I will say I visited this place 2 years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was actually a place we went to revisit but forgot all about it. I will return to give this place another chance in the future and will try a different menu item as they have a lot of options that seem delicious but it was disappointing that something so basic tasted so bland (the omelette).

it’s a no for May…

after waiting 15 min longer than the quoted 50-55 min, the hostess directed us over to the bar to two available chairs where manus had been placed for us. as we sat down, May (who we later learned was the manager) shouted at us in a very accusatory tone “were you sent here by the hostess?!?” no hi how are you, no hello, no excuse me, just the accusation that we hadn’t waited our turn. after confirming that we didn’t steal these seats, we tried to move on with our breakfast. that is until the ceiling air conditioning vent began leaking all over me.

I mentioned this to another member of the staff who was behind the counter (couldn’t catch her name but she had blond streaks in her hair) and she told me there was nothing they could do about it and I should just “scooch over” as much as I could. of course there was only so much I could move as there was limited space at the counter, so I continued to get dripped on for our 1 1/2 hours there. I expressed my concerns to her about the water dripping into my food/drink and the health issues that could cause (listeria anyone?) but she again reiterated there was nothing they could do. so, we just again tried to continue on with our breakfast.

our server (he was great by the way) came over and took our order, we then waited 50 minutes for the food to come out - absolutely crazy for a wrap and a sandwich - yes, we moved on to lunch at this point because it was taking so long. meanwhile I was getting wet so I fashioned some water collection methods from the various cups on the bar for butter and creamers that helped to reduce the splashing. if the staff couldn’t do anything, at least I could try I suppose.

when the food finally came out, it wasn’t even good. this surprised me the most because I’ve been to the LBV location a few times and it has been great. I put it into a box to try and bring home to figure out how to salvage it later.

I asked our server for the manager after telling him that none of our issues were with him and he had been great, then he told me that he would send May over - which just solidified to me that this wouldn’t go anywhere. he agreed and told me good luck, but I figured I would let her know anyway.

I told her about all of the issues and she had nothing but excuses. no apologies, but lots of excuses. there clearly is a management issue at this location (again LBV is fantastic) and I can see why. it was disappointing that I had brought a friend here from out of town after talking the place up so much because I guarantee he will never be back (and I certainly won’t return to this location). and the icing on the ironic cake here is that they are across the street from the #1 hospitality school in the world yet the hospitality expressed by their manager is...

I sent an email with the following review but have not heard anything back so I will be sharing the following. I do want to share first that the food was great, very delicious and large portions, came out hot and quickly. My concern however was the price of a latte that was sold to me. When we were greeted by our server he upsold us a he Butter BeerLatte, from the upselling and the whiteboard with all the servers names on it checking each time they sold the latte it was clear there was some kind of contest going on. I decided to join in on the fun and ordered one. It was fine, I am a barista and make coffees for a living so I am very conscious of my drinks, but nontheless, I did not have a problem with a fun themed drink to help a server win a contest as I have been there before. The problem came however when the bill came and I found the latte was nearly DOUBLE the price of a regular latte on the menu. Now this special latte was not listed on the menu nor was there any sign advising of the price so I had assumed, because my server did not advise me otherwise, that it would be the same price as the other flavored lattes on the menu, maybe $1-2 extra for the promotion but almost doubling the price for one latte where the latte comes out of a machine seems kind of insane, or at the VERY LEAST something that should have been advised by the server when ordering the latte. The server whom, might I add, audibly celebrated and made a show of adding a tally to the white board when I ordered it. To be frank, while it is only a few dollars, my financial situation right now is not great, and it makes a difference. This was my first experience at this chain and we were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and were very excited to try it and had already talked about coming back again on a different occasion, however, after this experience it has left a sour taste in my mouth and I am not sure that we will be returning. I am saddened to say that an otherwise great experience was dampened by an obscenely priced drink that was not properly advertised, it just felt...
