This was my first time getting anything waxed beyond my eyebrows and upper lip, and I was excited (and nervous!) about taking the step toward a full-body waxing experience. I’ve always liked this place, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout — I appreciated how welcoming everyone was.
I had scheduled my appointment in advance, and I was told there’d be no issues getting everything I needed done. However, when I arrived, I learned that one of the estheticians who was supposed to perform part of my waxing apparently wasn’t scheduled to work that day and had to be called in. I truly appreciate her making the effort to come in, but I was a little worried from the start since this wasn’t communicated to me beforehand.
Two ladies worked on me — the first did my eyebrows, upper lip, and right underarm (all of which came out great!). The second handled my left underarm, lower legs, and what I booked as a full Brazilian, but it felt more like a bikini wax in the end.
Because of my anxiety and time, I couldn't check myself over until I got home. Once I did, I noticed several stray hairs — on both legs, my right underarm, and my bikini area. It was disappointing because I expected everything to be clean and smooth, especially for the price and the reputation of this place. I also noticed a straight, blotchy purple line in the crease between my bikini area and left inner thigh, mainly closer to the lip. It’s not dirt or a friction stain (because I am on the bigger side), it doesn’t wash off, and it looks like a bruise — which is concerning, especially for such a sensitive area. It may be a pinched skin or something but again still concerning.
Another small concern was how the second esthetician seemed rushed? She mentioned being very fast and seemed proud of that, but it didn’t feel like “professional fast” — it felt rushed, like she was trying to get it over with. I don’t blame her for being called in on a day off, but the quality of the service definitely reflected that rushed feeling, at least professionally detailed.
I also felt a bit uncomfortable at the end. Both women stood at the counter during checkout, which kinda made me feel a little pressured to leave a generous tip — even though I wasn’t completely sure of the results.
All in all, while I still think this place has a lot of potential and the staff were genuinely kind, the overall experience didn’t perfectly meet my expectations... I still had to shave some spots afterward, and I’m left with bruising that’s making me anxious. I’d recommend the place, but I’m not sure I’d come back for a full-body service unless I could be sure the staff were fully available, unhurried, and confident in handling...
Read moreI was there weeks ago for a pedicure and manicure, I had a show that evening and anything outside of perfection was unacceptable, I had a really nice guy with black hair do my nails don't know his name but he did state that he was working on w Colonial Drive near the Magic Mall at one time, I had a rude very unprofessional woman named Mia do my pedicure she was rude and did a horrible job telling me my feet was in "good shape" that's because I'm consistent with my pedicures and manicures had nothing to do with her service this was my first time with Mia, Mia became argumentative after I mentioned missteps I noticed so the nice guy that had just did my manicure had to come to the rescue fixing Mia's screw ups, Grace had provided my services in the past, the interaction was very disturbing because I noticed that the conversation changed from speaking to me confirming what service I wanted to speaking in there native language...Vietnamese, I'm no fool and I know that the talk between them was very derogatory and racist in nature what they didn't know at the time is that I've taken Vietnamese as a second language so I understood more than they realized, I tried speaking to Grace about the interaction and my disappointment however some guy came out and told me that Grace did not want to talk to me....Grace left for about a year and came back as the Manager she was pleasant and professional back then she came back as a very unprofessional shell of herself she doesn't speak or greet and worse of all she's obviously concerned about just a certain group of people and how they are treated, I was treated with such disrespect I will never refer or patronize this establishment again, all my black and brown beautiful Kings and Queens be aware of the Vietnamese rhetoric that's spoke about us, I would highly recommend everyone and especially people of color to boycott this establishment and any others that don't treat us with the dignity and respect that we deserve we pay for our services we deserve to be respected and to feel appreciated, there should be more nail salons owned by an array of different nationalities especially black owned nail salons, hoping to see more diversity in nail salons in the...
Read moreWent into City Nails today for a acrylic take off and cut down. The middle finger nail was first removed (along with a piece of my real nail) and I ended up bleeding. After asking for a bandage initially, nail technician ignored me at first and continued taking off the other nails. After 5 minutes, realizing I did not stop bleeding and me asking a 2nd time, the technician finally got up and got a bandaid. I am very dissatisfied, because not only did I get hurt in the process, but my nail technician did not even try to take off the white paste off my fingers. Instead she rushed to help another customer (whom was way after me) and only addressed me when it was time for the bill. I paid $15 for a acrylic take off and cut down (you can see the condition of my hand in the picture attached) and also $36 for a classic pedicure. Prices were high and quality was low. Will never...
