Produce Pro Market — Attraction in Oakland

This store is very, VERY poorly managed. They do have a few good employees, but bad mangers. There is a child there working behind the cash register half the time ringing people up (isn't that against the law?). My family has been going there for over six months, and anytime we want to charge less than $5 (their minimum) they hassle us and refuse us service until we get it up to their $5 minimum for credit, even though we have spent hundreds of dollars in there in multiple one time visits. We are regular customers there and they do this to us. imagine if you were new to the area? The lines there just keep getting longer and longer, but they still only have the one cash register. Younger employees like the cild at the register are not even well trained to know when to call for assistance, or how to help customers, or when to call a manager. With such poor training of employees, poor management, and poor owner practices I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money...

12/17/2023 I go to this market to get candles and links because I love the brand. I've encountered the prejudice of ( mainly some Mexican) there . That is that they have issues with Black ( negros) speak in Spanish ( they get angry and respond in English) or believing black USA people don't speak their language.

Anyway to make long story short. Today ( and other days I've been there) The cashier's are making fun of customers and they laugh. I'm not sure if it's malignant or just a pass time but it's a stereotype and prejudice to believe that because of someone's skin color or features are different from yours they can't or should not speak the language Spain forced on the ancestors in North Central and South America also Sierra leon and a couple other parts of Africa also Asia. I’ve been going to this store for over a year and people in this neighborhood should thank the stars that they have this valuable resource. It is a real market, with a butcher shop, sandwich shop, and a ‘very’ well maintained produce department. With their green produce, unlike Safeway or Lucky's you’ll never find bits of dirt or sand in it.
